I think a good way to quickly build the mindset of a good toilet culture is privatize restroom and have restroom attendant to clean and monitor and when you use them you have to pay or tip and when if you make a mess you should pay a clean up penalty and the nearby plaza security will make sure to enforce these rules.

I hate nothing more that having some worthless fool standing in a restroom waiting to hand me a paper towel from the roll expecting a tip. (I never tip for that.) Imagine if I knew his job was to check if I messed up the stall I was in to see if I deserve a penalty!

If you try to implement draconian bathroom regulations, the backlash will be so big, you will basically be getting pranksters purposefully shitting everywhere and running away just to make a point that you can't force people to shit the way you want them to.

The correct way to nurture proper bathroom/toilet etiquette is to provide plentiful, pleasant, clean, and free toileted bathrooms everywhere so people want to use them and have no reason not to use them. The expense will have to come from taxes.

Economic Watch: Robust trade data shows resilience in China's economy

Boosted by strong domestic and external demand, China's foreign trade saw robust growth in November with both imports and exports beating expectations.

Exports in yuan-denominated terms rose 10.3 percent year on year to 1.43 trillion yuan (about 216 billion U.S. dollars), data from the General Administration of Customs showed Friday.

Imports expanded 15.6 percent to 1.17 trillion yuan, leaving a trade surplus of 263.6 billion yuan.

In November, total foreign trade volume rose 12.6 percent year on year to 2.6 trillion yuan.

In the first 11 months, foreign trade volume rose 15.6 percent from a year earlier to 25.14 trillion yuan.

The export data was well above forecast, and was mainly a result of increased overseas consumption as the holidays draw near, according to Deng Haiqing, an analyst with JZ Securities.

Imports also beat market expectations, lifted partly by higher prices of crude oil and natural gas, according to Deng.

The data came in line with the official manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) released earlier, which showed that a sub-index for new export orders edged up to 50.8 in November from 50.1 in October.

With both the official PMI and trade number exceeding market forecasts, the November industrial output data, which is due next week, will also likely rise by more than expected, Deng said.

Friday's data reflected an improved trade structure. In the first 11 months, general trade expanded 18.1 percent year on year to 14.18 trillion yuan, accounting for 56.4 percent of total trade volume.

Trade of private enterprises grew 16.9 percent to 9.68 trillion yuan in the first 11 months, accounting for 38.5 percent of the total, and 0.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year.

Despite rising protectionism and anti-globalization sentiment, China's imports and exports with major trade partners remained strong.

During the first 11 months, trade with the

gained 16.2 percent year on year to 3.78 trillion yuan, accounting for 15 percent of the total. Trade with the

expanded 16.5 percent to 3.58 trillion yuan, accounting for 14.2 percent of the total.

China's stock market soared on the robust data. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.55 percent to close at 3,289.99 points, ending a losing streak this week.

Looking forward, analysts expect lower tariffs for consumer goods may promote imports.

Starting December, tariffs on 187 types of consumer goods will be reduced from 17.3 percent to an average of 7.7 percent. Import taxes on coffee makers, smart toilet seat covers and electric toothbrushes will be cut by two-thirds, and that on mineral water and oral cleaning kits will be halved, according to the Ministry of Finance.

"We expect China to become the world's largest importer within five years, and the proportion of consumer goods imports to rise," investment firm China International Capital Corporation said in a research note.

While trade data could be volatile from month to month, data in the last three months has shown continued strength in exports, indicating sustained recovery in external demand that has helped support China's industrial production in the fourth quarter, according to China Merchants Securities.

Customs data also showed that a leading indicator for China's exports rebounded from 41.6 to 41.8 month on month in November, signalling positive potential in exports.

Populated by Hui minority it is hard to grow anything So the best solution is to move these people and provide job by inviting industry to come socalled twinning it with richer provinces like Fujian(which was poor to at one time)
Here is touching story The real Human right is freedom from poverty and want Democrazy, free election is abstract concept when people are hungry

yes, now I read Opinion: New era and new global governance

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

China has entered a “new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics," as Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stated in his report at the 19th CPC Party Congress in October.

In this “new era," the CPC and China as a whole will uphold a new strategy to develop its economy and follow a new road to conduct global governance.

The world is gradually heading towards prosperity but is still not at peace. The uncertainties and conflicts are challenging the wisdom and unity of the global community. However, if we can introduce effective measures to govern world affairs, we can be assured of some quality time to achieve peaceful development.

The old types

Over the past 50 years, when we were still in the "old era," there were two types of "global governance”: one was American style, the other was Soviet. Both had similarities: their endgame was to control the people and the countries they were targeting with "aid" and both used the same measures to push their actions, by sending in tanks and military forces "hijacked" by the so-called "weapon of value" to conquer and rule those countries.

This “old-type of governance" was evidence of their shortcomings due to their lack of understanding and basic respect for the core interests of the local people.

The whole world is now waiting for a new type of governance with fresh and innovative characteristics. This is where China is stepping in – it’s comfortable in the global spotlight and is ready to be a leader in this next important phase. China is the only country that has the capabilities to take on such a mission.

What’s new?

China has already shown what’s needed: openness and inclusiveness, people-to-people connections based on win/win plus, and major contributions by all the concerned parties.

There should be no transfer of political value or military threat as in the "old era," and this should be replaced by a philosophy of "being a friend plus".

We need to develop together, undertake our difficulties together and enjoy all of the world’s benefits together. Every country and all people should be equal and demand the same respect, whether they reside in big or small, strong or weak economies.

China's new global governance model is like a “free-trade zone” – all members have the same advantages to do business and enjoy the favorable conditions. This was never possible during the “old era” under the American or Soviet styles.

What China offers is a revolutionary step and can be a great contribution to the current world order. This new era brings new ideas, provides new philosophies for development and new concepts for the “common shared future of mankind.” This is not only a mission but a real commitment from China and the CPC for the benefit of future generations. China must do its utmost to meet all its demands and challenges, to show its great character, as well as its culture and people.

Sri Lanka formally hands over Hambantota port to China on 99-year lease
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

Sri Lanka on Saturday formally handed over the southern seaport of Hambantota to China on a 99-year lease.

Two Chinese firms — Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and Hambantota International Port Services (HIPS) managed by the China Merchants Port Holdings Company (CMPort) and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority will own the port and the investment zone around it, officials said.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during a visit to China in April had agreed to swap equity in Chinese infrastructure projects launched by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa in his home district.

Sri Lanka owed China $8 billion, then finance minister Ravi Karunanayake had said last year.

"With this agreement, we have started to pay back the loans. Hambantota will be converted to a major port in the Indian Ocean," Wickremesinghe said while addressing the handing over ceremony held in parliament.

"There will be an economic zone and industrialisation in the area which will lead to economic development and promote tourism," the prime minister said.

Sri Lanka received $300 million as the initial payment for the lease which the opposition had described as a sellout.

The government's grant of large tax concessions to Chinese firms has also been questioned by the opposition.

There's a new false thought rising that's really been around a long time. The enemy is giving it a name and calling it "heart." Much like the saying, "action speaks louder than words," it's of the same vein but in this case they want the world to believe their words speak louder than action. But this is coming from mostly the left. "Heart" is being used as excuse to cover-up lack of action. I've been reading many articles using the term "heart" to belittle China's positive actions for the world as in China's drive for renewable energies. China is outpacing the US. Embarrassed, I've read many times of how China shouldn't be given credit because saving the environment isn't in their "heart." It's saving themselves or for profit as they charged what motivates China. Does it really matter especially when it does help the environment?

Was it in Obama's heart that when running for President of the United States he proclaimed he was going to be the "Green" President. Then when in office he abandoned the environment just because it was China that was going profit from the green technology revolution he thought the US was going to monopolized and get rich from? Then on top of that he slapped tariffs on green technology making it more expensive for people to buy just so China doesn't win the green tech race. How about the EU who spent President George W Bush's term in office whining about the environment and how the US wasn't doing anything about it. But then when "their preferred guy" Obama was in office, they didn't say a word criticizing how he sabotaged any attempt of an international agreement just because he knew it wouldn't get passed Congress thus the US would get blamed for failure and Obama didn't want have that mark on his legacy. Do they really care about the environment since China was the industrialized world's garbage can taking in their garbage and then they have the gall writing that off as how they're the ones really saving the world unlike China as their "heart" in action? And this goes beyond just the environment.

Domestic chips is coming and China is replacing Japan as the high tech exporter in Asia

China Breakthroughs: Charging ahead on "Made-in-China" chip technology
Editor: Qian Ding 丨CCTV.com

By Tom McGregor, CNTV Commentator

The smartphone is an amazing device and along with its notable advances in 4G networks, since users can tap into the internet, watch a film, or instant message friends while even walking in a crowded street.

Such technology has transformed everyone's lives and the Chinese government is helping homegrown hi-tech firms to develop further upgrades on hardware and software for smartphones, as well as creating "Made-in-China" chips along with related technologies.

Speadtrum Communications Inc., a chip-maker for state-owned phones, plans to invest over 300mn. RMB ($US46.4mn.) from 2015 to 2020.

"Chip-making is critical technology for many areas, including smartphones," China.org quotes Ye Tianchun, director of the Institute of Microelectronics, as saying. "China is set to grow a strong chip sector, so we don’t have to beg other countries for key chip-sets."

Domestic hi-tech exports gain momentum

China has long been recognized as a low-tech manufacturing market, while Japan has captured global acclaim producing hi-tech consumer gadgets.

Yet, the tables have turned in recent years, which means Chinese smartphones manufacturers - Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE, Meizu and Oppo - have become widely-popular for consumers worldwide.

And for more proof that Chinese hi-tech companies are overcoming Japanese firms in international rankings and status, the 2015 Asian Economic Integration report published by the Asian Development Bank disclosed that China had surpassed Japan to emerge as the number one hi-tech Asian exporter in 2014.

China's share of Asian exports had risen to 43.7 percent in 2014, compared to 9.4 percent in 2000. Japan's share had plunged to 7.7 percent, from 25.5 percent in 2000.

China's exports of low-tech goods had accounted for 28 percent of its export market in 2014, compared to 41 percent in 2000.

Moving forward to 2016 the figures are even better. According to statistics compiled by the World Bank, China is the leading exporter of hi-tech devices, totaling over US$560bn for 2016. In comparison, Japan exported hi-tech goods valued at US$105bn for the same year.

Nonetheless, many Chinese companies are not satisfied with prior success and they hope to enjoy even greater success in the long-term future.

Chinese smartphone manufacturers are looking ahead to adapt better software and hardware to be built into their smartphone devices, as well as to provide deeper support for domestic companies to develop new chips, so they can stand at the forefront to challenge their bigger global rivals, such as Qualcomm and Intel.

Huawei makes bold chip move

Shenzhen-based Huawei Technologies, a telecom equipment maker and China's largest smartphone vendor by shipments, has demonstrated support for "Made-in-China" chips by introducing a homemade processor, Kirin 950, installed in it's flagship device, Mate 8 that was introduced to the market in 2015.

HiSilicon Technologies Co. Ltd., a chipmaking subsidiary of Huawei, produces the Kirin 950 that boasts of faster processing speed and a power efficient design.

The Kirin series has already enjoyed remarkable success and had integrated into Mate 9 and 10 series from 2016 to 2017.

2017102520154121734.png

(Huawei’s Mate 10 smart phones, newly launched on Oct. 20, 2017 Photo from Xinhua)

HiSilicon Techonologies remains optimistic and has emerged as one of the leading contenders in the global mobile chip market, which include - US-based Qualcomm Inc. and Taipei-based MediaTek.

The new chip has already grabbed the hearts of Chinese consumers. Huawei had witnessed 81 percent year-on-year growth of sales in China in 2015, according to Canalys research firm.

Mobile e-commerce to benefit

Creating new chip technology offers numerous advantages. For example, cyber-attacks have become a rising concern for mobile online consumers since users place confidential personal information at risk when transferring data to legitimate online vendors.

Chinese technology firms are developing more enhanced chips to combat cyber-crimes, while increasing processing speeds. Huawei is a major player in the field. Such advances can add stronger momentum to the nation's mobile e-commerce market.

The research firm, Forrester's, reports that, China had surged to the world's biggest online economy in 2013. In that year alone, 25 percent of Chinese residents had shopped from smartphones weekly, and 69 percent of Chinese purchased at least one item from a mobile device.

The figures had surged to even greater heights from 2014 to 2016. And rising revenues from Chinese e-Commerce sales are expected to continue on for 2017 and the years ahead..

"Made-in-China" chips for the masses

Accordingly, with strong government support, Chinese hi-tech companies have added incentive to build more R&D (research and development) centers to develop innovations in the domestic chip industry.

Some hi-tech firms can boost their profit margins by developing new chip technologies that can be adapted to mobile devices.

By deepening endeavors to upgrade hardware chips or create new ones, this would not guarantee big money success overnight.

Nevertheless, chip technology companies should remain persistent, to work hard, take risks and conduct experiments so that they can enjoy a payoff in the long run.
