I don't have any insider info. But the news story about the pilot notes, said that J11B beat all Flanker variations and once it comes to the final stage it is always J11B vs J11B, or J11B vs J10 (A, B, A/B mixture) and J11B won three golden helmets in the 2017 competition. IIRC J10 won only one. PLAN was part of competition, so we can be certain Su30 was involved.

While there is no any indication Su35 or J20 was involved, which would be huge news if they were. It is unclear if J10C was used (not mentioned anywhere).
Thx for your detailed reply

Wow... You can tell that from eyeballing a single pic...?
What are those tiny yellow round spheres with red markings? They seem to be on all the J-16 in the pics, while one of the jets with Black Radome have the same marking.

more or less if you count the number of grey noses in front (from left) = J-16, then the ones with black radomes = J-11B & BS, whereas the BS has taller tails and finally the ones with grey radomes again and canted/squared tailfins caps on top.

Concerning this one??

As far as I know it's a sign warning for radiation (?) / radar emission ... but not sure actually.

a fleet of J16, some given a temporary J16D for electronic warfare...however it is believed that the radar was not up to scratch..
still quite impressive though...

@davidau ! That's exactly again such I post I - and I'm sure several others too - simply do not understand: You once again blindly re-post an image that has already been posted in much higher quality just a few post before, it is smaller, in lower resolution and even worse shows these nasty Sina-stamps/watermarks on it.

Additionally You - sorry to day so - copy&paste in blind stupidity Sina's title, which tells anything of a J-16D even if it is not only clear as hell that these are 5×J-16, 9×J-11BS, 3×J-11B, 3×Su-30MKK. The J-16D is not in service and I'm sure you know that.

Sorry to say so, but that's a pure BS-post ....

When you reposted something[rather often], no one say anything sarcastic , including me. I looked at it as an impressive array of fighters, no more no less. A temporary designation J 16D intended to suggest J16D not yet in service! So I do know J16D is not yet in service. Nevertheless, I also pointed out that the China made engines are not up to scratch ..
