Many of you may not be aware that the current French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle actually started life as one of HMS Queen Elizabeth's sea boats. The vessel is pictured here after being deployed by the British carrier off Gibraltar. 76710891_2689766387736726_6365377979211579392_o.jpg
I'm English. It is culturally acceptable for me to take the mick out of the French, and indeed vice versa. It's a sibling thing...

What it's like to ride a carrier into port in real time; you get a sense of the scale of the ship in this video:

Nope. She was doing 16 knots when steaming towards Okinawa..which was here first stop in Japan. 16 knot is standard operating procedure when traveling between ports.

OKINAWA, Japan (Dec. 4, 2019) Amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) departs White Beach Naval Facility to join the forward-deployed Amphibious Force 7th Fleet based at Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo, Japan. America replaces USS Wasp (LHD 1) as the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed amphibious assault carrier and is capable of supporting the Joint Strike Fighter (F-35B) as part of an embarked U.S. Marine Corps Air Combat Element (ACE). America, part of Commander, Amphibious Squadron 11 and Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Cmdr. Kristine Volk/Released)

She also stopped in Pearl Harbor.

PEARL HARBOR (Nov. 21, 2019) NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor provides fueling support to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) during a port visit to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. (U.S. Navy photo/Released)

She more than likely conducted some flight operations on the way over to Japan....I can't find photos of recent flight operations.....Jura, I've posted a few photos of USS America(LHA 6) in this thread.
