Vincent just posted on CDF this article about how they struggle to meet the quality assurance program of WZ16. Out of 7 sample for compressor component 6 are rejected and only 1 meet the requirement . Until finally they figure it out how to get the component to meet the quality requirement. This show the need for highly skilled labor. any one can translate better please do

Interesting info: in March 2011, out of 7 test components for the compressor produced by the Chinese company, 6 failed the QA test.

跟着方总干项目,心里有底!”方岚枫在与他一起共过事的职工口中那真是有口皆碑。作为制造专家,出了制造技术问题他可以指点迷津;作为管理专家,管理学的教授都佩服他的独到见解;作为项目经理,现场的大事小情他都了然于胸;供应商出问题,他也会不远万里第一时间去协调……

2016年12月20日,涡轴16发动机配装AC352直升机成功实现了首飞,作为这一项目的中方项目经理,方岚枫付出了太多太多……

涡轴16发动机是我国首次与国际先进航空企业以50:50模式开展的对等合作,与东安之前的发动机产品相比,涡轴16跨越了不止一代,东安的制造、质量和管理水平一时间难以适应涡轴16的高标准要求。这不,方岚枫就任项目经理伊始就遇到了问题。2011年3月,东安承担的压气机试验件陆续加工完成,然而,在汇总检查时这批零件却发现了很多问题——7个零件中只有1件无超差项,可用于试验,其余6件无法用于试验。带着沉重的心情,方岚枫第一时间组织项目团队一一梳理这些质量问题,查找并分析原因。原因查明后立即组织面向项目团队全体成员的质量分析会,并作为主讲人逐一剖析质量问题。随后,组织各个承制单位“参观”这些无法使用的零件。

痛定思痛,方岚枫下决心啃下质量这块“硬骨头”,一方面,建立全流程的质量追溯程序,同时根据质量大纲严格执行首件鉴定程序;另一方面,以质量体系为突破口构建了适应民机特点,满足合作需要的技术、质量、管理体系,特别是在沟通管理、计划管理和风险管理方面都进行了积极的探索并形成了一套有东安特色的管理成果。经过了一个阵痛期,涡轴16发动机的质量大幅度提高,在交付正式件时,生产周期受前期影响被压缩,而质量产品却达到了“零缺陷”的水平,通过了法方的验收,保障了项目后续工作的顺利开展。

方岚枫常对项目团队讲:干涡轴16,对他而言是“老革命遇到了新问题”。而对付一个个新蹦出来的“拦路虎”,他也有绝招——学习。国际合作,工作语言是英语,文件是英语,法方项目经理打电话也是讲英语。怎么办?学习!方岚枫案头那一本翻烂的字典可以告诉你他学得有多努力。长期在工具工装一线,长于制造技术,而对发动机的知识储备少,怎么办?学习!从北航背回来的一包专业教材和那几个经常被他问倒的设计员可以告诉你他学得有多钻。民机需要过适航关,而他第一次知道这两个字可以放一起,怎么办?学习!他用40多天时间自学找来的专著,边学边做的300多页PPT讲稿可以告诉你他有多用心。

在方岚枫的领导下,主要由年轻人组成的涡轴16团队也通过6年多的学习提高和项目历练变成了一支“创新务实、严谨细致、团结高效、担当奉献”的队伍。这两年,项目团队中涌现了多位省市和公司级劳模,多次获得行业及省市嘉奖;基于团队实践的项目管理成果获得中国国防科技工业企业管理创新成果二等奖;2016年,项目团队还荣获了全国总工会授予的“全国工人先锋号”。

“六载铸剑青云志,一朝发硎展锋芒。”涡轴16发动机研制一路走来,倾注了方岚枫的全部心血,白发已悄无声息地爬上了他的两鬓。首飞当天,看到AC352直升机在涡轴16发动机澎湃动力的驱动下拨开晨雾,稳稳挣开引力的束缚时,方岚枫激动之情溢于言表。首飞成功,他随着人群来到了直升机旁,面对试飞员、地勤和客户领导对发动机的称赞,他深知虽然首飞获得了成功,但涡轴16发动机还有很长的路要走。面对未来的挑战,方岚枫和他的团队已经做好了准备。

It differ from Z8 mainly due to application of composite material and modern avionic maybe bigger engine
And can navigate high altitude like in Tibet plain. It take 6 years from first flight to certification even with not much change in the design . Z20 will take at least 7 or 8 years from first flight to certification

China's first heavy-lift helicopter, AC313, has passed all its airworthiness tests shortly ago; that's according to sources with the developer.

The most recent airworthiness test was held in heavy rain in Jingdezhen in east China's Jiangxi Province on March 24, according to the Changhe Aircraft Industry (Group) Co. Ltd. The group is a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corp. of China.

The civilian-purpose helicopter took off and landed in heavy rain without a hitch, with precipitation exceeding 0.03 inch within six minutes.


After take-off and before landing, the helicopter had to fly at comparatively high speed at an altitude of 200 to 500 meters over ground to prove it was airworthy in rains.

The AC313 had its maiden flight in Jingdezhen City in March 2010. It has done two trial flights on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau between 2010 and 2011.

The helicopter is suitable for emergency rescue operations, forest firefighting, transportation, offshore operations, medical aid, sightseeing and business trips.

C313 is civilian heli the military counterpart is Z18A for the army
Z18J AEW version and Z18F ASW version Z18 transport

Should SDF readers be as weary about Chinese news on April 1 as western news?

The news is from Changhe Aircraft manufacturing the maker of AC313 so it is official
Chinese helicopter industry is still young they are in process of absorption, indegenization and improvement Not yet original design it will come as we see it in Z10 and Z19 already.
The only thing missing is the heavy lift heli like Stallion But they have joint design with the Russian and the engine has been tested successfully

Two Ukrainian engine-makers, Motor-Sich and Ivchenko-Progress have announced the first test start of their new AI-136 turboshaft engine. The trials took place on January 19. The engine is designed for super-heavy rotorcraft and can also be suggested for future Chinese heavy helicopter.

AI-136T is a modernized iteration of a serially produced D-136 turboshaft that powers Russia’s Mil Mi-26 heavy-lift helicopter. The new version was designed primarily with the Mi-26 in mind, Motor-Sich president Vyacheslav Boguslaev reported earlier.

AI-136T delivers 11,500 hp at maximum trust setting at surrounding temperatures of up to 50ºC. It also has a emergency mode which provides up to 14,500 hp. Maximum output of the original D-136 is 11,500 hp at temperatures no higher than 15ºC. So the new engine is expected to significantly improve the helicopter’s performance in hot-and-high conditions.

Since Mi-26 is used as a basis for Russo-Chinese joint program dubbed Advanced Heavy Lift (AHL), the Ukrainian engine could fit for the project as well. Former head of Russian Helicopters Alexander Mikheev mentioned in 2015 that the AHL would be powered by D-136. However, Ukraine’s State Export Control Service denied Motor-Sich’s participation in the project due to a ban on exporting military and double-purpose production to

, introduced in 2014. However, the information of Ukrainian engines being intended for the AHL kept appearing after that as well.

Motor-Sich earlier announced it was developing another upgraded version of D-136, the D-136-2. It was supposed to power improved Mi-26T2 model. According to the Ukrainian manufacturer, this engine would deliver 11,650 maximum take-off thrust at 40ºC and 12,500 hp in emergency mode at 15ºC.

Exactly like jobjed noted: the AC.313 is the civil version of the military Z-18 or in fact it is vice versa.
