The air intake design has been modified, which reminds me of the intakes on CH-53E Super Stallion, possibly done to prevent ingress of debris and sand?

What's in the nose compartment? Weights to simulate ammo load?

Those items in the nose compartment almost look like pieces of ballast. Is Z-10 tail heavy then?

As for the armor bits at those few places... those are far too small in area and placed at random places to protect the crew. So i'd expect they're protecting some other subsystems... Or not?

It will help against shoulder mounted missiles, which are indeed the main threat, but not against aircraft.

There isn't much a attack chopper can do if under air attack. I mean one Hind D in the first Gulf war was killed when a F15E driver dropped a bomb on it well it was in the Air. If a fighter wants to kill a chopper they can come up with ways to do it without missiles

Well not getting detected by the fighter helps. It is hard to do hide against someone with a powerful radar flying above you but you can take advantage of ground clutter for that. However masking IR emissions is a lot more difficult than hiding from enemy radar. But yeah once a helicopter is detected by a fighter it is pretty much dead because it has neither the speed nor the weapons to fight against one.
