We have lived for the last eight years with an administration that should own it. They have done all they could to slow down, water down, and muddy up these programs precisely because they would make America strong.

Sad to say, we have had leaders who believe that the US is the problem itself and that it should not have such advantages. They have, as I have said, sought to derai, defund, and screw around with these programs. They have appointed absolute lackeys into all levels of decision making at the civilian departments, and sadly, within the armed forces themselves...after firing, forcing into retirement, or otherwise neutering the strong militayry leadership that otherwise would have been available to them.

but they could not completely stop or neuter it and we now have an administration who is seeking to right these worngs. but it is going to take time...and it is going to cost to get things back on the rails.

I am all for the people who have scred up getting a meat loaf of come-uppanc and responsibility...but the political machine within the DNC, and the establishment GOP too, will do all in their power to keep that from happening.

I do believe however that Mr. Trump will find a way. He's going to turn the economy around, get American corporations firing on all eight with his economic and tax plans, and he will have the financing to do what he need to do and without bloating the debt...in fact I bet he reduces the debbt substantially before all is said and done because there is a monster economy out there waiting to take off on rocket engines.

I hope I live long nough o see it my friend. I am hopeful now that it can happen. Hillary would have been a diaster and would have continued those programs and doubled down on them.

I view it as a miracle with God in Heaven's help that we avoided that disaster.

Oh yes. He and McNamara were about as bad as the Carter and bama...but IMHO, nobody tops Obama in my lifet time.

But the ship will be a good vessel, and it will perfrom, despite its name. He was a President, and he did serve in the US Navy Reserve during World War II. Hewas awarded a silver star for his action when his recon/observation aircraft came under attack.

I add here one thing and right after leave it for some time:

I noticed the USN was covering quite dangerous delays, cost overruns, and missing capabilities in various ways (struggling to avoid Nunn–McCurdy review); perhaps the simplest trick is to LATER declare Phase 1, Phase 2, ... of obviously the same program :) for example the Zumwalt has been COMMISSIONED UNARMED with the USN, and the Ford will probably follow this path, so:

"The committee is concerned the variance in the Navy's
definition of ship delivery may obscure oversight of the
program's schedule, including whether or not a project has
breached its threshold delivery date. The committee is also
concerned Navy ships are being delivered in various degrees of
completion and then, after a period of availabilities and
shakedowns, possibly several years later, the ship is delivered
to the fleet for operations. CVN-79 and the Zumwalt-class
    programs illustrate this practice.
Therefore, the committee also directs the Comptroller
General of the United States to submit a report, not later than
March 1, 2017, that includes analysis and recommendations
regarding the Navy's process for fully delivering ships from
the time the Navy takes custody of the vessel until the vessels
are fully complete and ready for operations. This review should
examine the Navy's cost and schedule milestones throughout this
process and how these milestones are reported to decision
makers and oversight agencies. The review should also propose a
common definition and criteria for Navy ship deliveries,
    including the associated dates."
