Germany was fighting a war on two fronts it's Airforce was broken and it's Navy never really left port. Its army was using a mix of equipment pulled from a dozen nations and it never had secure national resources. There forces were exhausted, killed, sick/ wounded, captured or being used to guard concentration camps.
Germany never really stood a chance once the allied forces got to speed in on either world war.

At the same time @Jura it took the US Army 3 years to develop the Persing Heavy tank from paper to prototype to field. And that was a tank that could give the Styker lessons on being troubled. A years evaluation is about the norm... actually pretty fast for the Army.

Unit cost of an AH64E was around $35.5 Million so that's not a huge jump.

LOL the wording inside 36 minutes ago

is "the Army does note that it wants an aircraft that is roughly $43 million per unit."

so you may ask yourself a question

What Did The USAF Around 2005 Want The Price Of The F-35 To Be?

Yes want but the future is fluid.
Years ago the Army wanted the RAH66 Comanche and thought that was the future... and it went wrong.

after almost six years of watching, it's, you know, fun to see how the Pentagon tries to kid the public with statements like "the Army does note that it wants an aircraft that is roughly $43 million per unit."

I heard even I hadn't been watching at that time

It's not "Kidding" the public it's listing a optimistic cost estimate.
    Everyone does that.
Assuming the program does well it's possibly a fair one too. The current unit price of a UH60 was around 21 million but these would be more advanced than that design.
But He who looks into Crystal balls eats glass shards.
You cannot predict the final price of sophisticated military equipment that hasn't been built.
