A HUD on display. Designation and specs unknown. It was actually turned on.

These new HUDs should be narrower and shorter if the plan is to pair them with Helmet Mounted Systems. They just get in the way of HMS, it's distracting for the pilot. I'm surprised no one has made a retractable HUD yet, like a backup iron sight.

Retractable HUD? Its probably possible, if you want to think a little outside the box.

How about milspec see-through LED screen that dispense with traditional projector and glass structure? That'll be very interesting.

Currently, the HMS turns off automatically when the HUD comes in the field of view, which is the distracting if you're in the middle of a fight. Ideally, the HUD should turn off instead of the HMS when it's not needed. So I guess a borderless glass which doesn't interfere with the HMS would work too, and probably simpler than a retractable HUD.

Helmet Mounted Displays have been in operation with fighter aircraft that field HUDs for many years -- fairly complex HMDs, in fact.

As mentioned by Mohsin, the HMD's display simply turns off the requisite symbology when the pilot looks at the HUD. The size and profile of the HUD shouldn't effect the primary functions of the HMD at all.

Yang Wei and his entourage certaintly are not fanboys, so the concept image of the 6th gen fighter jet is unlikely a fanboy art either.

Agree, if this is only a fanboy art. Yang wei and many others would not wasting their time seeing this one.

So I believe, this design is legit in some sense.
But yes, they are still in very early phase. So the Prototype that would fly in 2030-2040 (my personal estimation) maybe can be different.

At least they have direction toward 6th Gen

Carrier capable too it appears.

Maybe one of their requirement of 6th Gen Fighters, can take off & landing from both land airbase and aircraft carrier. Who know?
