I think it’s the angle, from the other photo you see it’s 2 rows of cells, the front ones are “closed” showing the missiles inside and the back have the hatch open with the missiles sticking out.
thanks, that's a good observation. What fooled me was the lack of the cell lid doors on the front row. Making it seem it was just a single row. But it's now obvious to me there are two rows. I guess one row of lids was just not presented in the model to give the audience a more clear view.

The question to me is whether or not this UVLS is meant to be shown for export or this is just a model to demonstrate their capabilities? If for export, maybe it indicates that bigger hulls(destroyers) could now be built for foreign sale.

Its clearly cold launched. If the shorter missiles are cold launched, they are situated near the top of the VLS, with the tips of the missiles are just under the cover. This is similar to models of Redut missiles inside the UKSK VLS.

If the missiles are hot launched, the shorter missiles would be situated at the bottom of the VLS, with the rocket exhaust just above the transfer channel underneath the VLS.

Its safe to say its depicting U-VLS.

I suspect its related to this missile, or this is the land based version of it. Note that LY-80 is the HQ-16, LY-80N is the HHQ-16, LY-60 is the HQ-6 and LY-60N is the HHQ-6 used with the Jiangwei class. Its called the LY-70. Note the quad pack arrangement, along with the dimensions of a quad pack. This canister is also cold launched.

Hehe friend, I think you made a comprehension error... I was asking whether or not the UVLS model shown, is meant for export which could hint at possible destroyers for sale too? Or maybe to demonstrate their capabilities?

The U-VLS can be sold with a frigate, possibly shortened for the displacement. You don't have to equip it with YJ-18 and HHQ-9.

You can come up with a small frigate with only a single bank of 8 VLS cells, and still have 32 missiles in it. For example, the Naresuan class frigate. This is actually a heavily modded export Type 053.

Back in 2016, in the IDEAS naval defense expo in Pakistan, some of the CSSC export frigate proposals looks like they have a VLS that lacks a center channel. This is interesting since other proposed export frigate models have a center channel in their VLS.

This thing is similar to the Royal Navy's CAMM-ER, which also has a 40km range and quad-packed in VLS. However, it is 10 km short of ESSM's range. Not sure how significant this 10km being "out-sticked" would be.
