The image upload date is 2013 but google map pic dates back to 2011, so it could be even older than the pics of that thing wrapped up and being transported around.

Rough estimation showed that it is between 18 and 20m long.

If they can't solve the powerplant problem, the Z-20 project is no better than moot. Just look at the massive diet Z-10 have to undertake in order to make the project achievable.

I have no doubt the engine problem will be resolved in a decisive manner, it is far less an issue of materials or even design than it is of statistical quality control of fabrication and assembly.

The WZ-16 turboshaft engine is coming up with 1800 shp and 1500 kw. It should enter mass production in 2014. If not they can always import high power turboshaft engines from the Ukraine as a interim solution. The Russians imports all their turboshaft engines from the Ukraine too.
