I haven't noticed a thread yet on this but I thought it's just a fun thing to talk about.

China actually has a pretty good watch industry! (Like the kind you wear on your wrist, watch).
They're still pretty down low on the luxury totem pole but they're moving up.

Like everything, there are good and bad: The watch in this article is really good:

The watches in this article, despite the article being pretty upbeat, are crap, don't buy them:

Slightly off topic, what are all your favorite watches? Chinese or otherwise.

I'm a big watch enthusiast - my Sugess homage to the Seagul 1963 is one of my favorite go to watches! It's not a direct reproduction of the famous 1963, but uses the same Seagull ST1901 movement but has much nicer running seconds and chronograph sub-dials than the Seagull (larger, more rounded out index marks, recessed/stamped for a more 3 dimensional look). I've gotten a lot of positive complements while wearing it by non-watch people wondering what kind of watch it is. The champagne creme color dials with the gold index marks is very eye catching especially in dimly lit bars and outside during sunset.

Lots of positive reviews and love for the Seagull 1963 on Youtube, even among people who have Pateks and Rolexes

Most stunning watch I've seen is Beijing Watch Factory's "Playing Dragon and Phoenix" watch. Unfortunately, I'm having a tough time finding articles about it since I read about it about 10 years ago (with more pics of it) and they seem to have been lost to time. If I recall correctly they were selling for 50 grand or something like that.

I love watches. I have an IWC. It’s very nice, a bit dressy. Not an everyday watch.
But I would love to get a tourbillon. been looking at the sugress watches but this memorigin looks quite good.
I can’t find the peacock watch websites though.

Now you just opened a giant can of worms...I only get mechanical watches, automatics mostly.

I started collecting when I turned 18, the addiction got triggered when one of my aunts bought me a Breitling Bentley model (don't remember the exact model). Then when I graduated, the graduation from an uncle was a Jaeger lecoultre moon phase ultra thin in rose gold. This watch is now broken (I dropped it years ago and they couldn't fix it) so I got a master silver dial in replacement last year.

So basically all my special occasions I go buy a watch.

When I got married, my parents got me a tag Hauer Carrera 16 in blue. Which started my obsession with blue watches.

Got a Sinn Frankfurt 6099b (limited 200) when it came out, as a inheritance when my grandmother passed.

Got a oris artelier when my first son was born.

Got a IWC mark 18 when my second son was born.

A oris big crown date in blue/bronze for my 10 year wedding anniversary.

Got my eye on an A Lang and Sohn 1 with the blue hands for my 40th bday

Got a couple more random brand watches just for traveling, so if they get trashed or stolen I don't really care.

Wow... this sound like something I need to get into. I just check the time on my phone like a barbarian.

Very cool! I've been tempted to buy one off Amazon, but one of the 38mm ones with a Sapphire crystal.

Bro what. Holy crap you got a Breitling and a JLC as gifts! Must be that Alberta oil money! (I'm just kidding)

JLC is my grail watch.

I'm like you, kinda, where I try and buy a watch for special occasions. In fact its just browsing for watches to pick one right now that lead me to this topic.

You got a pretty good collection. I've got a Casio Worldtime (high-school graduation), a Seiko 5 (undergrad), Vostok Amphibia (grad school) and Casio G-shock (needed it for work) in my collection.

I've been looking at a Junhans Max Bill but I've also been trying to find some Chinese watch to get.
