They say cats always land on their feet and this scaredy cat was no different after jumping an incredible 30 meters to avoid the clutches of a wild caracal. The African domestic cat was snapped at the top of a tree in the Kgalagadi National Park, South Africa, while the caracal climbed to hunt its prey.

It took this panther chameleon less than 0.003 of a second to scoop up an unsuspecting grasshopper by shooting out its long, sticky tongue. The moment was captured in Lokobe Nature Reserve in northwestern Madagascar.

Zermatt celebrates the first ascent of the Matterhorn on the Hoernli Ridge made by Briton Edward Whymper and his team of six mountaineers on July 14, 1865. All mountaineering activities will be banned on July 14 on the Swiss and Italian side of the Alpine summit in remembrance of the more the 500 people who died trying to reach its summit.
