I don't use it much any more, but I will still be annoyed if they break Facebook or do something similarly pointless but disruptive.

If these people weren't so wrapped up in boosting their ego and trying to make headlines with their publicity stunts and instead just wanted to make a positive difference to people's lives, there are plenty of far more useful things they could have done with their time. Like targeting email spammers or breaking up bit nets.

But seeing how many of the people posing as Anonymous are probably also the ones writing the virus that create bot nets and probably earn their beer money sending SPAM with their bot nets, I somehow don't see that happening.

Maybe all this 'trying to do good' nonsense is just an expression of their guilty consciences because of their day job.

Yes, you guessed it, I hold a very dim view of hackers and think many of them should be behind bars or fined at the very least for the vandalism they are doing on the Internet.

Great post plawolf!

We once had a member that bragged that he was a hacker. I banned his ass immediatley. He never came back. If he was such a great hacker why did he not hack into our forum??

What I think "Anonymous" Legion stands for:

A - Asshole
N - Nobody
O - Obeisant to hacking
N - Nerds
Y - Yacking about
M - Mere
O - Objections of
U - Unimportant
S - Subjects (or 'shit')

Remember when people were freaking out over the Patriot Act and Homeland Security and all this other conveniently ready-to-go post-9/11 police state stuff, because it would obviously be just a matter of time before the whole apparatus was turned against non-Muslim Americans when they started getting complain-y about the social injustice and economic injustice and income inequality and endless recession and permanent unemployment? That day is now...

That is an interesting article, but you got to remember that some of those OWS are not exactly your typical model citizen. Some are trouble makers and thrifters just looking for some cheap action. It's also imperitive that the "crackdown" is done to clean up the tent cities in public parks that can cause a health and sanitary issues. There are legitimate complaints from neighbors living around the OCW tent cities that some of them were rude and even defecating in the alley way between buildings. Yes you can protest, BUT you CAN NOT jeopardize the safety and peace of other citizens.

They are not typical model citizen, but police themselves. For example:

I fail to see how a few trouble makers warrant police in riot gears to evict everybody.

Because it's attracting others to test the law enforcers limits. Remember these OCW doesn't always know who and where everyone came from and for what reason. They have to take accountability for their actions. In a large crowded dense area the police just can't cherry pick every single trouble makers out there and let the rest of the protesters continue their marry ways (this is not a night club where bouncers can kick out the punks). So for the safety of the public (protesters and non-protesters included) and property the police has to do what's necessary to maintain law and order. Yes OCW can still have their protest and I'm not against that, but if one cookoo steps over the line, THAT'S it...the party's over. One doesn't want to see their city's in riot like what happen in the UK several months ago.

My experience is that the trouble makers are frequently the police themselves, sometimes police in uniform as reported in article cited above, sometimes police in civvies or other agents of the authorities out to provide an excuse for violence by the police. The public would be safer if the authorities allowed concerned citizens to express themselves. Of course democratic politics might then lead to the end of the career for some politicians.
