The Maltese Navy helped a man attempting to emigrate to Europe after they were alerted by a tugboat that a boat with immigrants was 50 miles off the coast of Malta in the Mediterranean. A pregnant illegal immigrant died in the morning soon after being rescued by a merchant ship, a Maltese armed forces spokesman said. The Navy rescued about 30 Nigerians and Somalis who tried to make the crossing.
