War in Checnya: video

The above video is about 48 minutes long and goes deep about the war in Checnya. Wow, these Chechen fighters are ridiculously well organized and heavily armed! One can only wonder how long this conflict will last.

The Chechens are good fighters. They truly understand guerilla warfare. And it was so crazy when they showed the scenes of Russian armor being blown to pieces! This reminds of this comic the Winter Men. They hire these Chechen fighters to help them siege this mafia compound. It was awesome.

All the videos I could find on YouTube on the Chechen war. There are likely more.

This is pretty pro-chechen. They are "resistance fighters", and the Russians are sort of "evil empire"-ish too. What is this dispatches anyway?

Especially the part in the hospital. If that isn't propaganda, I don't know what is. I mean, there's a cute little kid saying "ooh it hurts", and then a weeping mother, then an angry bystander neatly listing how the Russians have killed soooo many people. Classic. I'm not saying the Russians are great though. They are bad as well. But this video is biased.

That's the unfortunate part about these videos. You should see some of the Anti-Russian, Anti-U.S posts put on YouTube. However, the footage it's self is what I was most intrested in. It's the sort of thing that outside of the internet you will never really see. Just a shame there is such a one-sided and skewered view on the whole thing.

Ten to one says that Chechen propaganda is the most likely of videos you will find on the internet involving the war in Chechneya. I just ignore the propaganda myself.

Cool vid, Swimmer. Yeah, I gotta agree myself. Watching two grown men beat the crap out of each other is fun to watch, but sucks to participate in.

The propoganda does kinda piss me off, I want unbiased reporting for once.

Yeah, as I said before in another thread, the Chechnyans are probably some of the MOST organised and most sucessful, and well armed militant organizational groups in the world. Compared to these guys, the insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan can't even measure up really. The Chechnyans have been fighting for a decade, and have since been putting thier own defenition in the word Guerilla Warfare. With thier quick, ambush style tactics and devastating firepower they have put many a Russian Soldier in his grave. And as for those in Iraq and Afghanistan, they have only been fighting for a few years, and have yet to be able to really be sucessful in combat, and really don't haven't developed a good system of ambush tactics that are able to take on the massive firepower and technologic superiority of a squad of American/British soldiers or marines.

Yeah anyway, I can just say that from what I've seen of the insurgents in Iraq, they'll just wait till your convoy drives by and then detonate an I.E.D And then try to get away without getting killed by the return fire that is coming immediately after the explosion. Or they'll just snipe you and then run in a similar fashion. The Chechnyans, however will detonate a BIG I.E.D and then follow through on their ambush with RPG's, RPK's, and the good old AK. Or they'll detonate one I.E.D, and then blow up the other larger I.E.D after the medic APC or medic squad comes to retrieve the wounded. Then they'll follow through with the RPK's and AK-74's.

The Chechnyans are smart and cunning when it comes to weapons, and they are very ruthless enemies.

MRClean, the Chechens and the Iraqis are in two different situations. The Chechens have terrain that favors them pretty well: forests and mountain. The Iraqis have a desert which is the least favorable place to conduct a guerilla campaign. Above that, Russian airpower is nothing when compared to that of American aipower. American aircraft are on constant CAS patrol throughout all of Iraq. If the Iraqis were to conduct an attack like the Chechens (IED with heavy small arms fire afterwards) the Iraqis would be bombed within minutes. Russian aicraft (like gunships and fighter-bombers) are grounded half the time because the Russians have problems getting fuel for these aircraft and gunships aren't exactly the best weapon in mountain/forest warfare.

Above that, the Russian army currently has very poor training while the Americans are the exact opposite. There have been reports that 300-500 Chechens are currently fighting in Iraq, but whether or not that has made a difference is still to be seen. Also, American casualties would be much higher if it were not for the body armor: for every one American soldier killed, seven are wounded. In the past wars America has fought, it was one soldier dead for every two wounded. The Russian troops don't have access to any body armor so their deaths would be higher. Different terrains call for different strategies. The Chechens have mastered the art of guerilla warfare, but it took nearly a decade to do so. The Iraqis are trying to do the same thing as well.
