As someone who quite likes the souls type genre, this game has been on my radar for a while since the first trailer a few years ago.

A bit more of the UI is shown in this more recent gameplay slice, though I wonder how far away they are from a release date and just how extensive the content and maps will be.

Almost 25 years ago back in 1998 this was my favorite computer game. At the height of Pax Americana, pre-911 and during the boom of the first dot com bubble frenzy... those were the days of a new fighter jet sim coming out for desktop pc every month, and during the peak of the golden era of desktop gaming where you had to upgrade computer parts every six month just to keep up.

I loved this game so much I burned it onto a CD and took it with me to our high school computer lab where instead of fiddling around with the Borland C++ compiler in the mornings and at lunch time I would play F-22 ADF instead...

On the weekends I would bug some of my friends to play with me on multiplayer. This sim supported LAN and Internet multiplayer but those days we only had dialup so playing online meant we couldnt chat on the phone and had to resort to texting in the game chat, since this was before cell phones, or twitch/discord etc

Back then China didnt even have a fighter jet much less the J-20... and it seemed America was so far ahead that its supremacy would never be challenged at least not in my lifetime

Going through some of the gamescom trailers released this week i saw this trailer seems like Ghost of Tsushima meets Wuxia.

Where winds meet:

Seems like a same sort of pitch Game science did with the first BlackMyth: Wukong trailer, has anyone ever heard of the game studio EverStone or something like that?

3.0 Genshin is quite the blast.

Story really came unexpected, wasn't expecting anything that deep and depressing.

Only bummer that Genshin's introductionary Nations, Mondstadt and Liyue have in hindsight kinda meh Archon quests.

If they had the quality and depth of worldbuilding in 2020 with release of Mondstadt and Liyue, like they have with Sumeru, this game would have been a lot, a lot more popular and an even greater PR win for China since Liyue is kinda underrepresented Lore wise rn.

I mean Ganyu, Zhongli, and the crew are all cool and stuff, but in comparison to Sumeru writing, their character almost feel like tropes.

Music again this patch is chef's kiss.

7 hour "summary" of the first act of sumeru archon quest.

Also I really love how genshin writes strong women.

They are in position of power and responsibility and they exercise their power for thegood of their respect people.

No bullshittery gender fu**, only strong people starring exceptionally demanding roles.

Unless you have a few days straight to do nothing but this, you'd realise how much of exploring the Sumeru region you've to do.

The Archon quest is a different take, but size wise pale in comparison to the Aranyaka World Quest ... now that one is long, very lore heavy, lots of side and after quests, overall quality would totally outshine the Archon quest if only it also has VA.
