USS Texas, BB-35, in 1/350 Scale

Here's the video my wife, Gail, took last year when we were done there and I visited the USS Texas...I believe the same day we met you to eat. I think we went over there right after eating with you at Lubys!

 
Yep, all done without laser cutting precision on metal plates and CAD.

you know, sometimes I wonder if it wasn't actually easier to do it without so many options available today :)
from what I figured, they (Navies and their Battleship Designers) in the first place decided about
  • the displacement: it basically determined the dimensions (to fit into existing facilities: docks for building; Panama, Suez canals for passage), and the cost;
  • and the main armament: it determined the layout (of the propulsion mainly);
and then the remaining parameters (protection, speed, range, ...) were set (and some of them sacrificed)

of course, all this was very complex, as I found out when preparing posts for
