Could you continue operation while missing one arrestor wire? I recall this happened on Admiral Kuznetsov and it caused a Mig-29 to run out of fuel while circling and waiting for the wire to be repaired, but would a broken wire immediately result in the carrier no longer fit for operation and have to return to port if the broken wire can't be fixed onboard?
Does the F-35C has an arrestor hook ?

They said that the accident involved an F-35C.

"The F-35C variant is designed for catapult-assisted take-off but arrested recovery operations from aircraft carriers. Compared to the F-35A, the F-35C features larger wings with foldable wingtip sections, larger control surfaces for improved low-speed control, stronger landing gear for the stresses of carrier arrested landings, a twin-wheel nose gear, and a stronger tailhook for use with carrier arrestor cables."

If I remember correctly, isn't the F-35C the variant with most issues and delays at this point?.

Also, I remeber news of them having to redesign the hook in early aircrafts because it failed at catching the cables

This is what happens when one does not focus on the basics. This has the look of cable failure all over the face.
