Looks like some US "allies" want their cake with ice cream and candles...It's a form of blackmail. They know the DoD is strapped for cash..so..maybe they figure they can squeeze the US for all the cake ice crean, clown ballons etc..

Those folks from Project On Government Oversight(POGO) seem to me to be nothing but alarmist.

One of their concerns is the PRC stealing techno info about the F-22 if it is indeed sold to Japan. say they do steal it. How long would it take for the PRC to duplicate some sort of F-22 clone??? 10-15 years??? By then the US will be using new UAV's. Just my opinion.

it will most likely be usd to develop weapons/tatics to counter the F-22 by

the time the RnR it the tech will most likely be obsolete

there are many examples israel stole the MIG-21 thats why it was easily defeated in the 6 day war mig-29 also suffered the same fate

To work on sensitive defense R&D researchers have to go through extensive background checks--you won't find a PRC citizen working on US defense labs. Universities and corporations not working on such sensitive things is obviously another story--lots of intelligent foreigners from all over the globe come to where the money is (oh yeah, and top notch research opportunities, too ).

Of coz you won't find a PRC citizen working on US defense labs or any other defense labs apart from chinese or maybe the PAk.

But you got to know how the China community work, not matter where u are or what nationalities. The older generation will ways call there China there home land which affect the newer generation belives. So they dun have to be PRC citizen, it may just about be anyone with chinese background, then the info may be channel though a million people b4 it get the PRC hand, which make it almost improssible to track.

the time the RnR it the tech will most likely be obsolete

yes, by the time the chinese RnR it the tech will most likely be obsolete if they start from nothing, but they can get the rite info it wouldn't take dat long.

If you're hoping for Chinese traitors, you're really stretching things. I don't believe there are really that many Wen Ho Lee's out there. One of my good friends in the Navy was a Chinese guy (3rd generation out) named Ricky. He was an Officer in the submarine service. I asked him about his lineage and he said his family came from China in the 1940's. But this guy was so pro-America/Conservative, he makes Ron Reagan look like a Communist. He also told me he thought Wen Ho Lee should fry in hell. I currently work in the commercial space sector and one of our ground guys is 2nd generation Chinese. He told me he knows nothing about China and doesn't care. This guy seems to be interested in only one thing.....the Sacramento Kings. I believe most Chinese in America knows who butter their bread...and it ain't China. That's how it's worked in my experiences. Those in the west who identify with their ethnicity first are largely hypocritical. Treason is beneath contempt, in my book. Those types of people get no respect from me.

B.S. propaganda. Fatherland?!?!?! Give me a break. Where's the "roll-eyes" emoticon when you need one?

You do know, this type of stuff works both ways, right? I'm sure the USA has their informants inside China. There are quite a few people leaving China..and they ain't too happy. Anybody benefiting by living in the west........oh well. Nevermind. But before this gets political, we might want to treat this thread for what it was intended.

"US Navy seeks rapid-strike missile system"

The plan calls for a missile arsenal that is capable of striking any target within 6000 miles of a patrolling submarine in under 24 minutes, with a guaranteed accuracy of less than 10 yards.

The "Prompt Global Strike" programme claims that even underground bunkers could be destroyed by solid-slug warheads plunging from space at high speed.
A second warhead consisting of flechettes – barbed shrapnel designed to shred vehicles, penetrate fuel tanks and kill anyone not under solid cover – could be developed to tackle surface targets.
The system would be aimed at disrupting attacks that had been detected in advance by surveillance or for responding instantly to surprise strikes.

My ex-wife is from the Philippines. She love the Philippines. She is very proud of her Filipino heritage. But she is more American than most Americans. She has worked as a civillian for the US navy for 26 years...non -stop...She has a US Flag on her car. She wears a US flag on everything she wears. She knows how the Us government works..etc, etc.
And she for the life of her cannot understand why people that came to the USA from any other nation don't undersatnd the oppurtunites they have in the USA and still clamor to return home.

Oh yea..that's about the only thing I still like about her.

Darth Sidous. It's not far to call someone a traitor because they love the US and are Chinese. Different people have different loyalites.

Popeye, you are spot on. This is the last comment I will make on this but I am a Mexican-American. I was an officer in the U.S. military and currently work in the U.S. commercial space industry. I still can't figure out all the Mexican flags and the pro-Mexico chants on the protests the other day in L.A. I find it despicable. You come here for opportunities and are literally dying to get here. You have no hope or even a way to make a decent living or have an opportunity to have a voice in your own government in many places. Yet you give your loyalties to a place you won't live yourself?!?! Utterly disgusting and lacking of any intellectual honesty.

This thread might become too political, and i would hate to see another great thread gets close. So everyone please claim down and stay on topic.

I don't believe Lee Ho Wen had done anything as many people claim. It is more likely just a propaganda.

Actually real traitors are the one that is least expective, In the cold war, the people who did the most damage to both countries were the people who are most unlikely. Such as some day we might find a White Neo-conservative in the military work for China as a spy or A top level right-wing general in China is working for US. Nowadays, Money and women are the main sources of recruitment for spys, backgrounds might play a secondary role.:)

Good idea, Kyli.:) But I just want to add one more thing. I do believe it's quite acceptable to appreciate your ethnicity even if you live in another country than where you came from. I sure do appreciate my ethnic heritage. That's why I believe Chinese-Americans cannot be compared to some sort of a Borg collective. I myself appreciate Chinese history, culture, music, art, cuisine etc. But there is a clear line between appreciating one's heritage and betraying one's country. That's my point. And I don't see Chinese-Americans as traitors just because they appreciate their lineage. That's where I end on this topic. Period.

I just want to make one point on this before we switch back to the military news (I suspect that may never happen, lol, maybe I should just give up?)

Many of the Chinese members on this forum are from Canada and Australia. You can imagine that these two societies would work differently from the American one. I'm not sure about Australia, but the Canadian society really allow the different ethnic groups to be loyal to their culture. For example, during the Kosovo campaign, the Slavic people of my community were demonstrating everyday in front of the city hall. They were swearing at Canada and burning Canadian flags (I'm serious here), because Canada participated in the Kosovo bombing. As you can imagine, this kind of stuff would definitely not be tolerated in America. In general, I think most of the ethnic groups in Canada do not treat Canada as their homeland until a few generations in. If you wonder why Chinese members on this forum (many Chinese Canadian members here) are still so loyal to China, this could be the reason. Of course, I would think that people who immigrate to America tend to go through the transition much faster. Therefore, I think that's where the misunderstandings come in. The Chinese who are not in America think that Chinese Americans would still be loyal to China above America. Whereas Americans would wonder why oversea Chinese are still loyal to the native land. Just my 2 cents.
