that US SSN production has fallen a further three years behind schedule since AUKUS was announced, I decided to dive into the budget documents myself. It checks out.

Delivery Dates for Virginia-class SSNs, Projected & Actual.png

The most recent boat delivered to the Navy, USS Iowa (SSN-797), was delivered in December 2024 (and commissioned April 2025). In the FY 2016 Estimates, the first after the Block IV boats had been contracted, SSN-797 had an anticipated delivery date of August 2021. So, forty months of slippage. But that's old news, right?

In the FY 2021 Estimates, the first after the Block V boats had been contracted, SSN-802 had an anticipated delivery date of June 2025. In the latest FY 2026 Estimates, that is now out to June 2028. So, 36 months of recent slippage. After hearing about the Virginia Payload Module for what seems like

According to Lockheed representatives, PAC3-MSE production is currently sitting around 650 missiles per year and the government has asked them what the potential of expanding that to 2,000 would be.

The company is contractually required to build 650 interceptors per year by 2027 and based on the production rate over the past three months it is already at that target, says Brian Kubik, the company’s vice president for the PAC-3 program.

The company is expecting the requirement to go above the 650 rate, having been asked to evaluate numbers as high as 2,000 per year. The company produces interceptors for the U.S., along with 16 other nations, and the demand is across the board, Kubik said on the sidelines of the Space and Missile Defense Symposium here.

Would be interesting to see how many Patriot have been used worlwide in the past 3 years. EU stocks are more or less depleted to a minimum level and need replenishment. Lockheed sales are assured for many years.
