My neighbor Steve H. a combat veteran with a purple heart, is flying to Seoul to meet President Trump, and then on back to Vietnam to meet Vietnamese veterans who fought for the other team. Steve is a Christian, and has been to Vietnam several times before, and has reconnected with the "Boys of 67", I believe that's the title of his book.

He has shed many tears, and shared hugs and warm conversations with those who were our adversaries. Time has a way of giving each of us perspective, and forgiveness is a "cleansing wellspring".

Steve was given the VIP treatment by SouthWest Airlines, and the Captain and Flight Crew allowed Steve to board 20 mins before other passengers, and placed him "up front", asking him many questions..When the other passengers boarded, the Captain announced his presence and service over the PA and the whole of the passengers and crew clapped and thanked Steve H..

he was greatly humbled and thankful, but he's just that kind of guy!

President Trump met Steve and the other veterans privately before the press were allowed in the Room,,,If you notice the pictures on Fox News, Steve is standing behind the presidential podium as the President approaches the podium,, he's wearing his hat. The President and Steve are both wearing big smiles, and Steve found the President very warm, gracious, and humble!

but now I was appalled by

"There are 41 fewer ships and 90,000 fewer sailors in the service since 9/11, Shoemaker said, but the missions have only increased."

I mean I had lived in the US in 2001 so I remember the US Navy that strong, I'm unsure of what has been going on since then and why (here I blamed 'concurrency', I noticed Wednesday at 8:17 PM
but still)

Disgraceful, and the full brunt of blame goes on the Barrack Hussein Obama Regime! period, the military always struggles to maintain readiness, and under Democrat President Regimes, L B Johnson, Jimmy Carter, William Jefferson Clinton, and finally Barack Hussein Obama, the US has embraced a liberal social agenda and Federal Government Money giveaways to dysfunctional individuals and familes--- we need to STOP!

This has robbed the US Government of the resources to build and maintain a military consistant with the objectives set forth in the Constitution! those same socialist regimes have employed the US military as an agent of social change in the Mid-East, (Arab Spring) for example!

We need to realign our priorities with the dangerous world we live in, and quit rewarding non-productive, non caring members of our Nation protected status.

President Trump has refocused the priorities of the Nation and the US military to divest itself of social justice causes and focus on the Threat,, those Super Hornets are symbolic of the systematic decay our society as a whole has crawled into! As I have stated, the USN needs to prioritize stepping up acquisition of those F-35 Charlies,,, our current high intensity of operations needs to be "pulled back" to around 60% and focus our energies on rebuilding our force structure!

I understand... precedent Administration i have nothing of particular against Obama but ofc Democrats in general provide less generous budget in France Socialists :) no just for explain oh come on hehe :Dthis politic  and it is necessary in peace time ofc about at least a year to provide more spares a normal number in fact after budget increase.

French " Cour des Comptes " do reports it is the French GAO if i can say :) many pages not really interesting !

BTW now USMC have a more decent readiness % with a part of the F-18 Fleet modernised so birds not disponible but the 30 F/A-18C+ for soon all delivered have help also for AV-8B number in VMA now 16 before 14 with new F-35B and AV-8B disponibles.

And proof i see now a VMFA to 12 birds since severals years temporarily to 10 and if the need is there exist solutions... again more in crisis or war time i let's the doubters at their conclusions but i am certain eventualy MOD get the job done.

In more with 700 billions $ possible have an enormeous readiness to see...

I know your unhappy for F-35C but to provide the number o_O important ! Chinese keep daddies and it is a good idea i prefer less Rafales few... but a more important fleet of fighters.

Eventualy more and it is yet very decent by ex with 84 fighters since a while USAF with 46 F-35A ( plus 20 B and 4 C for 70 ) don' t have received such number 24 F-22 max in 2000's after necessary to be back end 1990's with last F-16 Block 50/52 + F-15E IIRC possible have this supplements funds up to december, 700 billions must do 640 base + 60 OCO initialy requested 600 after sequestration problem...

For USN Aviation yet more funds and ideally 1900 millions but he does not miss a big sum

Santa's list :)

Congress Approves $400 Million for an 'A-10 Warthog Lite'

Small but packed with firepower and sensors, OA-X will chase down guerillas and terrorists.
A partial replacement for the A-10 Warthog has reached a key milestone, with lawmakers backing a $400 million investment in the program. The OA-X program, designed to procure a light attack/observation aircraft, could see up to 300 aircraft purchased by the U.S. Air Force to take over aerial warfare in low-intensity conflicts.

The Air Force took one step closer to fielding a fleet of up to 300 light attack aircraft. Funding for the OA-X, or Observation, Attack, Experimental aircraft was included by Congress in the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act, otherwise known as the 2018 Defense Budget.

, both nuclear-capable, long-range bombers, could make appearances if top leadership in the Pacific sees fit, Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein told reporters during a briefing at the Pentagon.

Recently, “We’ve actually had all three rotating through

“You’re going to see B-52s, B-2s, and B-1s there on a continual rotation,” Goldfein said. The Lancer is currently deployed in the region.

Goldfein said it’s up to Pacific Command commander Adm. Harry Harris to request aircraft as necessary for various exercises. The general noted the Air Force has been busy, even as North Korea continues to worry top U.S. leadership.

“We just flew over 14,000 sorties in the last three months alone, simultaneously supporting Secretary [of State Rex] Tillerson in the pressure campaign against North Korea, global operations in Europe and the Middle East, and hurricane relief in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico,” he said.

Goldfein reiterated the service is the smallest it’s ever been for the missions it flies: only 55 fighter squadrons across the active duty, Guard and Reserve, as opposed to 134 during the Desert Storm era.

“There’s no slack in the system,” Goldfein said.
