Exact reason can be rudder or other things ?

I don't know. I do know that USN ships have alternate steering methods. We were not there. We do not know what happened.

COM7thFLT has been given the old heave ho..

as I stated somewhere online..heads will roll.

none of us know the Steering systems on the Burke class so we can't make any guesses. given the age of the class and ship I would figure it to be some form of Computer navigation, but with the age here the McCain being 5th of the line how old that system is??

There is a book call COLREGs that every ship has. It specifies all the rules and regulations in martime rules and regulations that one has to do including collision and the types of lighting that needs to displayed. A USN destroyer captain and a merchant vessel's captain will surely have read it many times over.
They also have AIS which is relaitvely similar to like an IFF but used to prevent collision via GPS broadcast. Was it turned off?
Many of these questions the investigation will flush out in the coming weeks/months.
The Mccain got hit on the port side which may mean she has the right of way however common sense, safety and obviously avoiding collision takes precedence!
A tanker/merchant ship is extremely slow and clumsy while an AB destroyer is much faster and more maneuverable. Even with loss of steering the speed of each screw can be regulated to provide emergency steering.

Something very serious is going on with the 7th otherwise they wouldn't dismiss Aucoin.

I look forward to read what really happened. These accidents and collisions have claimed many lives and destroyed even more. Many careers ruined and families affected.
