Watch this old video and think from militry perspective and USA has 800+ military bases, this is an an ideal vehicle to transport stuff even in remote island and the good think is that unlike cargo plane you don't need a run way but just a big enough deck to launch & land. Very suitable for them ,just think how many troops and weapons he can deliver within just 30 minutes to all most all over the world/military bases.

TLDR: Don't take claims made by musk at facevalue. Yes, Tesla is delivering EVs and Spacex does have Falcon 9 and the heavy.
But likewise promises and claims have also been made that didn't turn out to be true.

The Pentagon wants and funds a lot of things.

But it's really not that uncommon for research and projects to end up getting shelved/cancelled.

Anyways the impact of Starlink/Starshield will be there when it comes to military and spying, but the idea of using rockets to send cargo or stuff around the world to military bases or the likes is basically farfetched, and it will be so for quite a few years, if not decades.

AGM-183 successfully completed full-flight test on Dec. 9th. Pretty big for the US as it seems like they had struggled a little bit when it came to testing this platform at first.

I'm not sure they have confidence to gamble on it without other test..

''The Air Force requested $46.6 million for the ARRW program in FY23 to procure the first operational missile''

Outch that's a heavy price tag. Batch manufacturing will surely lower the price.

Yeah, I wonder if it will actually go into production as well? Though I also wonder if previous statements were just Air Force leaders hedging their bets because the program was in trouble?

If they can get the cost down, and eventually add the ability to hit moving targets (aka ships) this would be a very effective weapon!

They need to build a dozen to launch them all for testing. Sure that something like that is a must but they cannot rely on a 25% Success rate... Don't know the price for a batch of 12 but it look like a money black hole and time consuming to build and test one missile per year for that price...

US Army is investing in LRHW to give it the ability to strike maritime and moving ground targets. USN is also a partner in the program so I'd imagine they get this as well
