I am correcting my self. I was under the impression that only 96 or so MPF were slated for contract. That’s not true the US Army intends to field these as part of its reformed Infantry Divisions which means a significantly higher number one per Infantry division or 504 MPF. Which is larger than some Whole Armies tank forces

Old Lockheed concept art of the ATF. I love the furturistic look of the production facility. The concept artist really knocked these out of the park! I love the old drawn/painted style on concept art for aircraft.

If I am not mistaken, the Advanced Tactical Fighter program is what led to the YF-22 and YF-23 which is how we ended up with the F/A-22 Raptor. I think that would put this concept art at around 30+ years old. So yeah, I think this looks very cool for 30+ concept art for a fighter jet and I also don’t see how it could be a K-Mart version of the J-20 considering it predates it by decades…

So 3 Marines out of 26 onboard were killed. The deck crew were surprisingly unharmed. Looking at the shiver-inducing way those rotors came down on them I thought any of them could've bought the farm.
