And WHO started all this regime changing in the Middle East? Yes Bush Sr (41) and than follow by Bush Jr.(43) that created this economic mess and instability in the Middle East. ISIS wasn't form because of Obama.
The "Arab Spring" belongs to Barack and Hillary Bub, they own it! Obama is the Father of ISIS! but I'm very disgusted with the President for the way he treats people who have given him everything, theres no way in hell that Mattis leaked anything, and when he disagreed vehemently with the Presidents decision on Syria? he wrote a very specific, yet polite letter of resignation....

Mr. Trump is a far superior "Commander in Chief" than either Clinton or Obama, but this just shows a lack of manners and good common sense, this belittles the President, just when he needs to "Step UP!

The "Arab Spring" happens because of the "regime changing" and "nation building ways" of the US involvement in both Iraq and Afghanistan that caused economic turmoil throughout the Arab world.

Mattis and those like him are stuck in the Cold War era mind set that believes in the only world peace goes through US military domination regardless of the changing of the world and times.

That's your opinion but you're entitled to protect your dear leader's "honor" and "integrity". History has already spoken and your Mr. Trump has already proven his inability to lead. Don't blame this on "liberal" media and China now.

Actually you probably do, if you recall on Mr. Obama's last visit to China, they wouldn't roll out the air stair, so Obama could exit the front of the aircraft, he had to go down the back ramp stair! The Chinese hated Obama, never seen anything like it, well lots of people will continue to hate this guy for a long time,,,,

So I don't hate Obama, but he hated traditional American values, loathed the military, and the feeling was mutual.. but I'd still buy him a one way plane ticket anywhere on the planet, hell, I'll buy him a trip to the Moon or Mars!
Trump is taking his place as the most hated US President in China and around the world, one tariffs at a time, BUT them Russians do love him though.:p

Where exactly did Obama said he hated "American values, loathed the military"? What exactly is "American values"? Yes that is a serious question I am stating. I am not trolling. I am questioning those that thinks the status quo of America can not be challenge or change for the better.

I am pleased to announce that our very talented Deputy Secretary of Defense, Patrick Shanahan, will assume the title of Acting Secretary of Defense starting January 1, 2019. Patrick has a long list of accomplishments while serving as Deputy, & previously Boeing. He will be great!

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan will not sign off on delivery of the first KC-46 because of his past affiliation with Boeing; instead, another senior Pentagon official will accept delivery.

Shanahan, who took over as acting Defense Secretary on Jan. 1 after former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis resigned, has an ethics agreement recusing him from any matters related to Boeing, including the KC-46, DOD spokesman Lt. Col. Joseph Buccino said in a statement. Instead, Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Ellen Lord will sign off on the Pegasus delivery, Investor’s Business Daily

Shanahan spent 31 years at Boeing, including as vice president of the 757, rotorcraft, missile defense, and Dreamliner programs before serving as senior vice president of supply chain and operations in 2016.

Air Mobility Command said Thursday there is still no date for the delivery of the first aircraft, which was originally expected by the end of 2018. A Pentagon official told IBD the further delay was not because of the abrupt dismissal of Mattis after he tendered his resignation, but was due to continued issues with the aircraft. As of late

, the KC-46 completed its second phase of receiver certification flight testing, and is expected to begin initial operational test and evaluation testing in the near future.

Shanahan will need to recuse himself from multiple major USAF and DOD acquisition programs, as Boeing has recently received several contract wins and is involved in several other ongoing programs. This includes the T-X next-generation training aircraft, the UH-1N replacement, the Presidential Aircraft Replacement, and the Navy’s MQ-25 Stingray unmanned tanker, in addition to progress on other programs likely to involve Boeing, such as the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent and the Long-Range Stand-Off missile.

I'm honest enough to very pissed at Mr. Trump's lack of respect for Sec Mattis, Mr. Trump does believe in core American values, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness... Mr. Obama is a socialist/communist, he makes no secret of that.

The US military had NO respect for Clinton, NO respect for Obama, Obama punished the US Military by robbing them everyday, to fund his socialist/communist medical plan, which stole from working taxpayers, (like myself), and fined hard working people who couldn't afford his health care plan, (like myself).

Mr. Trump on the other hand has single handedly, doggedly pursued rebuilding the US Military, cutting taxes, did his very best to end the garbage Obamacare, which cuts services and raises rates, and may yet bankrupt the whole country. If John McCain had voted against Obamacare, it would have been dead, but no, he allowed his "Trump Hate" to overcome his common sense, and choose to punish Trump, and the American people who voted for Mr. Trump, and those of us who also voted for Sen McCain....

On the other hand your "dear leader", Mr. Kim hasn't engaged in any more stupidity, has he???

this is the US Military thread, I'm going to end this off-topic discussion with "that's all I've got to say about that"!

What trump is doing is replacing Obamacare for tens of millions of people into the pockets of his cronies in the insurance business hands. You are NOT even following the even in the whole picture. You are just hating Obama and connecting him to "Communism" and "Muslim terrorists"?

The US veterans has NO respect for a Commander in Chief "bone spur" and his lying ways. Next!

Trump is ONLY cutting taxes for the super rich people in hopes that they in turn will "create jobs". Guess what? That didn't happen. The super rich just pocketed the money for themselves. It's Reaganomics trickle down theory 2.0
Senator McCain at least served this country and the people that he cares about. Trump on the other hand cares only about himself. He will say anything to get the attention of conservative and right wing voters on his side. That has been proven many times. Look at all the mess that had happen such as racial violence during a Charlottesville protest and rally.

I haven't even mention about "building the wall". How many innocent non terrorist children has died so far?

As for Kim...he hasn't done anything of significant lately. It was all just a picture opportunity for him.

Oh by the way one of Mr. Trump's fellow comrade Putin is still killing Russian journalists and occupying Crimea.

Yes this is a military forum and discussing about the current events and politics does comes into play. That way the audience can get a better perspective of the over all picture and issues at hand from a different narrative instead of the one size fits all perspective. This is not a political issue, but rather a military related issue in accordance to the politics at hand. I'm not arguing with you for the sake of whose right or wrong but rather healthy debate to get a better understanding of each other.

This is a look at recent developments in the South China Sea, where China is pitted against smaller neighbors in multiple disputes over islands, coral reefs and lagoons in waters crucial for global commerce and rich in fish and potential oil and gas reserves.
CHINA’S XI TELLS ARMY TO PREPARE FOR COMBAT

Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling on the People's Liberation Army to better prepare for combat, amid tensions over Taiwan and the South China Sea.

Xi told a meeting of top military leaders Saturday that the 3 million-strong PLA needs to prepare for a "comprehensive military struggle from a new starting point," according to state media reports.

"Preparation for war and combat must be deepened to ensure an efficient response at a time of emergency," Xi was quoted as saying in the reports.

Over the six years since taking over as leader of the ruling Communist Party and its commission overseeing the military, Xi has put ever-growing emphasis on asserting China's South China Sea claims.

That includes fortifying its island outposts — particularly the seven new islands it has created by dumping sand and concrete on atolls — and increasing the PLA navy's presence to exclude other ships and planes from areas around those islands.

SHANAHAN TO PENTAGON: “CHINA, CHINA, CHINA”

The new acting U.S. defense secretary says he endorses his predecessor's renewed emphasis on addressing the rising threats from China and Russia.

At a morning meeting Thursday at the Pentagon with the military service secretaries and other top civilian officials, Pat Shanahan said he was focused on the defense strategy developed during the tenure of former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

In that context, Shanahan said the Pentagon leaders should remember, "China, China, China," according to one official, who was not authorized to publicly discuss internal defense meetings and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The National Defense Strategy emphasizes the importance of great power competition with Russia and China, after America's many years of fighting insurgent wars in the Middle East.

CHINA PROTESTS LATEST US NAVY ISLAND SAIL-PAST

China says it has registered "stern complaints" with the U.S. over the latest mission by a U.S. Navy ship intended to challenge China's claims of sovereignty over virtually the entire South China Sea.

Lu said the Arleigh Burke-class warship was in the area Monday without China’s permission and “we have made stern complaints with the U.S.”

"Relevant actions by U.S. vessels violate Chinese and international laws, infringe on China's sovereignty, and undermine peace, stability and good order in relevant waters," Lu said.

"We will continue to take necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty and security," he said.

Despite China’s objections, the U.S. has kept up a steady pace of such actions, known as a freedom of navigation operations, or FONOPs.

BRITAIN TO OPEN NEW OVERSEAS BASES

Britain's defense minister says the country plans to add two new overseas military bases in coming years, including one in Southeast Asia.

Gavin Williamson told Britain's Sunday Telegraph newspaper in an interview published Dec. 30 that the other base would be in the Caribbean, part of what the paper called a push to "step up (Britain's) military presence overseas after Brexit."

"We have got to be so much more optimistic about our future as we exit the European Union," Williamson told the paper, which is generally supportive of the ruling Conservative Party.

Williamson no specific countries, but Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore are all former colonies with which London maintains warm relations. All but Singapore are parties to the dispute over China’s South China Sea claims.

Britain has sent naval vessels through the South China Sea to challenge Beijing’s territorial claims and drilled in the area with Singapore, Malaysia and other countries. China has also objected strongly to British criticism of its policies in the former British colony of Hong Kong.
