The rules of engagement and equipment issued to Task Force Ranger were severely limited by the Clinton Administration. The US is going all in to support the SOF operators this time around as evidenced by the sheer number of explosions. Plus, the Somali militia were tipped off ahead of time in broad daylight.
Isn't this only expected for a 1st tier military against a cashed up petrol state with mostly cold war stuff? I would be surprised if US took any significant casualties here. Without being knee capped by strict ROE I'm sure they can basically strike at impunity.
