A few days ago I was unable to edit my own post about 15 minutes after submitting it. Is there a time limit on when you can edit posts? If so, can you remove it?

15 minutes is the limit, no you can't edit posts indefinitely.
  • 5 minutes for new registered users (0 to 25 posts)
  • 10 new members ( 26 to 300 posts)
  • 15 for junior members (301 to 1000 posts)
  • 20 for senior members ( 1001 to 2500 posts)

I noticed a small bug that likely won't be of significance. When a thread is say at page 4, and you quote a post in say page 3 then write your reply below and post it, when the page first refreshes it display the latest thread page with your post at the end, but the page number at the bottom would show page 3 (or the previous page since I had not tried quoting more than one page away).

Or maybe it just doesn't refresh the page number under which you posted your replies.

It goes away though if you move to a new page and displays properly again. Maybe it's a minor software bug?

I'm not sure how I feel about the time limit on being able to edit posts.

I often make multiple posts in differing threads across a period, and by the time I've made my replies, it might take hours until I come back to review them. It's a bit frustrating being unable to edit a few grammatical mistakes or typos, or reformat a post in a better way that only a returned fresh eye can provide.

Yeah, it'll just lead to a change in proofreading habits. That isn't that big of an issue tbh (apart from those of us that sometimes make early morning postings before having had their first cup of coffee!), but there are more practical complications, such as wanting to swap out one picture for a more refined one, or adding additional links, fixing a quote or img tag, or simply adding an extra paragraph or PS. It could of course be done by simply writing up another post, but it is far less practical, and it'll be a little weird when one is posting a reply directly after their own post made half an hour ago when they're only adding a sentence or two of additional content.

I just feel like having a time limit on editing is an unnecessary complication, and it's definitely the first time I've come across such a function among the boards I partake in. Or at least make it practically longer, like 24 hours or something.
