Make the go ahead command another trigger press on the rifle that the soldier can authorize instantly after verification once the robo locks on.Currently the problem with fully autonomous unmanned ground vehicles isn’t so much technical as moral reluctance in giving robo dogs/vehicles autonomous decision to open fire. The Unitree based robo-wolf can technically lock on enemy target automatically, but unless a PLA soldier gives the go ahead it can’t fire.
Tracked ugv looks like analogue to ones seen in Ukraine used for casualty evacuation/resupply, definitely dual use dressed up as "disaster relief".
Watching this XCMG page, can't help but think that these are civilian version of UGVs they would use or at least dual use vehicles.
You have XUV35 multi-functional rescue robot that can get through ditches with high speed rubber tracks and can operate at 50 km/h. Says designed for disasters, forestry firefighting, debris clearance and breach operation. okay.... Can be transported with helicopters sling load or assault boat?
and then we have this hybrid motor XUV25 with 210 km range that it calls companion robot that can move autonomously and have 800kg payload and operate on 5500m highland and at 70km/h top speed and 30 degree incline.
+ it can recharge and refuel drones and robot dogs.
am I going crazy here? this does not look like stuff you need for your civilian ministries.
I'm surprised they don't just strap a bomb to them and use them as kamikazis. They are certainly cheap enough to be used that way and will imo be far more cost efficient then using them to clear room with guns, don't really need to aim with a bomb and you don't need to unnecessarily risk soldiers lives doing CQC.Currently the problem with fully autonomous unmanned ground vehicles isn’t so much technical as moral reluctance in giving robo dogs/vehicles autonomous decision to open fire.
