When you need a bigger gun and Santa has now just granted your wishes

Czechia, Canada and the UK have also agreed to do so. Czechia has apparently also given a lot of MLRS (the vampire? I think)

I guess NATO ran out of Soviet ammo stock. Between Syria and now Ukraine they can't manufacture enough. So now they give the Ukrainians old NATO weapons which can use ammo from NATO stocks. Except Ukraine has lost most of its logistics to Eastern Ukraine. So at best they will dump these on Western Ukraine. So they won't help current battle ground. And it is questionable if Russia ever intended to go into Western Ukraine long term anyways. By providing Ukraine with heavier weapons they are improving the rationale for Russia to go into Western Ukraine. If US provides ATACMS to Ukraine, like they hinted at, you can bet Russia won't allow Ukraine to have those systems. Even if they have to invade Ukraine all the way to the Polish border.

I don't think Russia has the ability to take all of Ukraine anymore.

I've written two quite long messages and deleted them for this to explain my stance: Russian losses, Ukrainian resupply, Ukrainian morale, so on and so forth, ad nauseum (spew). However, that would lead to this thread becoming another Ukrainian Conflict thread and I have no desire to cause this one to be shut down either.

Sorry. I wish that thread had not been closed. That would have required more restraint from our members, but, alas...

I will toss this out though:

The way that article is phrased helicopters were not what was provided.

Additional edit:

Q: And you said earlier that the Ukrainians have now more fighter aircraft than they had two weeks ago. Can you give us...

MR. KIRBY: More operable fighter aircraft than they had two weeks ago.

Q: So can you give us an idea of – did they receive more? And an idea of how many? Dozens?

MR. KIRBY: I would just say without getting into what other nations are providing that they have received additional platforms and parts to be able to increase their fleet size -- their aircraft fleet size, I think I'd leave it at that.

Platforms and parts.

Q: What is a platform?

MR. KIRBY: Platform is an airplane in this case. They have received additional aircraft and aircraft parts to help them, you know, get more aircraft in the air. Yes.
