fist pix the army parade array carry type 95 assault rifle.
second pix the naval parade array carry type 95B assault rifle, it's improved from type 95 assault rifle, type 95B length is shorter than type 95, it fit's naval soldier operations in small space of the ship.
Naval Sailors are issued with the Type 95 Carbine version, its not really an improved version since the family of rifles that were issued in 1997. Its just rare to see Type 95 Carbine, or we just have limited pictures.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

I recently took another look on some pictures of the parade preparations, and noticed some units (PAP?) armed with a box-magazine fed (semi-auto) shotgun with a relatively short barrel.
Anybody knows anything abouth this gun?
Could be for less-lethal rounds for riotcontrol perhaps?
And before you ask NO I didn't save the foto's ... sorry!

Hey Pendragon in the Chinese Military Pics section I think there were some pics of units with shot guns. But here's a link to a website with some info about Chinese shot guns.

Hope it helps.

Here's some close-ups of those "new" 95s we saw in the preparations of the 60th Anniversary Parade.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

With all this talk about the QBZ-95B carbine for the PLAN, it reminds me that the weapon of choice before the QBZ-95B was the QBZ-56C, the carbine variant of the Type 56 which is still, in fact, lighter (by 0.05kg) and shorter (with the stock folded) than the QBZ-95B. Is it still in service or has it been completely replaced now?
