Type 022 Missile Boat

Would the new design be better at keeping the sea? What are the limits for 022 and how important is it to improve on that? Can someone of us judge the new design? I know I can't.

It doesn't appear to be a major improvement in capability over the Type 022. In fact, I'd say it looks like a downgrade due to it carrying only 4 missiles in contrast to the Type 022s' 8 missiles. But then again, those missiles might not be YJ-83s and instead be a more capable type.

CJ-10s? Though that would be purely offensive in nature and limited to regional strikes. :p

There's an obvious difference in trimaran design between this model and the Type 22 which most likely act differently on the water. Maybe someone that knows more can tell more. I can imagine this design from the model might be faster on the water. Hasn't the Type 22 been referred to as a "wave-piercer' which by that seems to say it can handle rough waters better?

I would say it's for export, also why is the missile in a exposed ribbed racks? Type 022 at least hides the missiles in stealthy looking housings. it's a downgrade no matter how you look at it, the front looks like a civilian yaht as well...

It makes sense if this is for export. Who knows what type of missiles the customer would want so the exposed racks would make it the most flexible. It wouldn't be too hard to mod and add panels on the side profile to mask the missile canisters if the customer wants it.

Pretty much a one trick pony.

I would expect some will be deployed to the new islands currently being reclaimed.

Now there's an idea for developing their tourist industry... water skiing :)

Missile boat you say?
