There's a much older saying. Power works like chastity, in that if you have to say you have it, you really don't.
This is like the USSR bragging in 1987 that it was the strongest economy and superpower on Earth, two years before it began to fall apart and four years before it completely dissolved. The US is doing the same routine now, just with better PR. The 2028 elections will most likely mark the official crumbling phase, when even the idiots can’t deny it anymore. By 2030, it is over. The USSR was the economically half-sized challenger pretending it could match America. Today, that role belongs to the US against China.
Since when did English become an American language? I thought it was invented in England?

Because the English language doesn't belong to England, and that's their own fault.
Given that the country with the largest number of English speakers is India, it's only reasonable that Indian institutions should define the international standards for "Standard English", and that Indian pronunciations should become the norm.

Think about that for a second. The president of the United States just estimated the population of his own country by +/- 25 million people or ~7%.
