It's obvious. No leader wants to break protocol by engaging in leader to leader diplomacy. That's just not how it works. Notice how it's Bessent and Greer instead of Witkoff and Kushner. Heck just months before San Francisco visit, diplomats asked if Kissinger would be available, so they place a high emphasis on formality.
I actually doubt much was discussed in these meetings.

Yeah she's fawning so much over the orange paedo that she seem ready to offer him the kind of services the women in that particular country are famous for. She'll probably way to old for his taste though.

It seems like each concession made by China was matched with an equivalent concession made by the US, one thing I noticed was that the second point they discussed was China's agreement to pause their new rare earth export restrictions introduced on October 9th was matched with the US side pausing their 50% investment restriction rule. This is something that Trump hasn't mentioned in his description of the things agreed upon in their meeting:

"二、美方将暂停实施其9月29日公布的出口管制50%穿透性规则一年。中方将暂停实施10月9日公布的相关出口管制等措施一年，并将研究细化具体方案。"
