Republicans are deluded. China can depend on the US for food and energy so end relations with Putin because he’s a bad guy who will eventually turn on China… What happened to the US cozying up to Russia to do a Nixon against China…? So which pot calling the kettle black can China trust in the US? Depend on the US for food and energy and Americans won’t use it as weapon because they won’t do that…? Republicans especially have been working against China since Nixon went to China. What Trump is doing now against China is the Republicans playbook against China they’ve wanted to play without Trump. And think they’re innocent little white girls wearing their best Sunday dresses who can do no wrong…
China is getting energy on the cheap from the very countries the US wants to sanction… cheaper than ever what the US will offer. The US doesn’t have a monopoly on food in the world. China can easily get it someplace else other than the US. No one in the world that could be an alternative supplier to the US would dare join with the US because it would mean the US will make all the money while they make zero. Trump in his first term tried to make a soy bean alliance with pro Trump Bolsonaro of Brazil at the time. He didn’t even go for it because all it meant was less all that money Brazil could’ve made.
Westerners like to paint China as not having anything important that the world needs of its own like arable land, oil, and strategic resources in the plenty that the rest of the world wants. No, it does. It has a rich upwardly educated consumer market that the US and the West vies for and wishes to control to be theirs. It’s why the US doesn’t want China having relations and doing business with countries the West doesn’t like including ironically China. They see those countries wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for China. If China were their property, they could use China to withhold from other countries getting rich if they don’t do what the US wants. Look at France losing their hold on former African colonies. Look at them going to China and Russia away from them. The majority of the non-Western world sees appropriately who to go to away from the claws of the West. Why would China give up everything including their souls just to be like by Americans who would still always hate the Chinese for not being white? It is a deal with what’s worse than the devil.
