This does not look like a major deal in the making unless one side to make big concessions in the following sessions.
Trump wants China to manufacture I n America.

China wants that too as a way to gain U.S. market share.

win win. There’s your trade deal. No need to wait for official an announcement.

Why are they so desperate to have the appearance of winning? Heavy on emotions and theatrics, severely lacking in meaningful details that actually matter. If it was China tripping over itself to declare a "deal", it would have been interpreted by US pundits as China weakness by appealing to domestic audience about trivial symbolic wins. If Trump does it, I bet the MAGAs would praise him as a negotiating genius even without any evidence or details. This is the problem of democracy without accountability, it's the appearance that matters more than substance.
Like I said, they've reached a deal, according to Trump's team.
They didn't release the details because they want to pump the US markets tomorrow. Which means the deal is probably a nothingburger and probably just reducing current tariffs and agreeing to more talks and some other vanilla statements about fair trade and market access.....yada yada yada. But it will still pump the markets early.

I'm more interested in hearing what the Chinese side are saying about this. Did they really reach a deal this soon?

Also can you do me a favor and delete my earlier comment?

Edit: Thanks! @Phead128

Yes. There’s going to be phase 1,2,3, step by step. At least two side working together. That’s good.

My guess is the "deal" reached in 2 days is Trump agree to do his "reset", aka drops tariffs, thus satisfying China's condition for talks to actually start, and talk being able to start is Bessent's "substantial progress".

As for the talks itself, it looks China wants to extract a lot more concessions, possibly world-order level.

Because that is how Trump works mentally. He has to win and will spin any outcome as a win which will be used to gas his base into believing he is a genius.
