still the narrative that it was the chinese that escalated first. well, i suppose if china is working at the magnitude that it needs to win with then it doesn't really matter.
Why not just let the export controls and tariffs from both side kick in simultaneously starting Nov 1st? China will halt all export of minerals and other components along with medical ingredients to US and its allies (EU, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan), whilst accepting US and EU halting all export of COMAC engines, EDA tools and other industrial softwares, etc. Both side then impose 150 % total tariffs on each other along with shipping fees. And no flights will be allowed since China insists on the right to use Russian air space. And both sides will kick out students studying in STEM (with China taking most of the hit).Very unfamiliar territory for Trump and the U.S. Chinese restrictions and escalation came out of nowhere, and now Trump has retaliated essentially playing defense, lmaoooo. Once again, he doesn’t seem to grasp how far Xi is willing to escalate.
Both domestically and internationally, this makes Trump look very weak.
Remember, farmers are on his neck for losing the lucrative Chinese soybean market, and in about two weeks, U.S. manufacturers will start shutting down due to a shortage of magnets.
Just look how dire things got just a few months ago.
This guy is running away from reality like, "Maybe the Chinese decided to play an April Fools prank in October! Well-played; it would have been too predictable to do it in April! Ha. Ha. Ha. Now end the joke and turn the tap back on; you can't just ban things and ruin our supply chain!!!" From your article:Apparently there will be working-level talks in DC this week (on the sidelines of previously planned summits), followed by ministerial talks. Trump-Xi meeting is back on at APEC.
that's right. your chinese supply system? that's ours.“A group of bureaucrats in China cannot tell us and our allies how to run our supply system.”
He's right.... I made the decision. Yes, me. When Xi gets wind of this I may get my ass kicked but it was totally worth it for the lolz. This guy is running away from reality like, "Maybe the Chinese decided to play an April Fools prank in October! "While sending the message the overall U.S.-China relationship is in “good” shape and Trump’s “100 percent tariff does not have to happen,” Bessent insisted Beijing must back off its plan to restrict rare earth magnets. He also suggested a “lower level official” may have made the Chinese decision to restrict exports, rather than Xi himself.
He did try, but when he realized that half of America would not mobilize under him and look up to his authority with unquestioning admiration but instead repay his initially good intent with derision and rejection, he turned his rage and his crosshairs within.
