After thinking it over… of course two three months because within the week is hardly a chance since Trump’s goon squad said that time frame over the weekend. Two or three months with no rare earths is too long for critical US industries. Let me guess… Trump decides for China that they remove all barriers while talks are happening…

Meanwhile Trump will continue the Repanican playbook on handling China and think that’s not violating his idea of an agreement but China is not allowed to retaliate or else that’s violating another imaginary agreement. Trump for the very first time in his life is trying to avoid the TACO.

If the US don’t need China then the US don’t need Chinese rare earths. That’s how it works.

Trump 2.0 is really dumb. They are even dumber that Trump 1.0 if we can believe that.

First, they bring it upon themselves higher prices and empty shelves.

Second, now they going to stop production with their moves, with no rare earths means no production.

(The rare earths has to be delivered now, to be on its way. Already read one article mentioning either Ford or GM had to delay production at one of their plants in the midwest.)

The US plan seems to be to have retail sales and factory production come to a standstill. Then issue threats and provocations to look tough.

Then we have this poor gnome making their comments from a parallel reality.

This is funny stuff.

The United States is a very weird place.

It is like no one knew they will run out of this one component, and that will stop production.

There is no sense of urgency. There is no clue.

Now they get a clue, that production has already stopped at one auto factory, so they want to talk.

Problem is, no one knows if the Chinese want to talk.

Waste of time.

Three weeks ago, there was a total trade embargo.

Now, who knows?

President Trump is trying to arrange a phone call with Xi Jinping, there is no question about that.

The Americans are fools.

There is no other way to describe it.

What a waste of time, if you were the Chinese. I really thought it was a clean divorce.

Apparently not.

Still the same crazy girlfriend experience.

:confused::p:rolleyes:

Just found this article on Facebook, the article is from 1st june.

So much for eating tariffs.

Don’t remember seeing it posted before. If it has mods please delete.

Now that their pockets have been lightened, the average American might find tariffs a much healthier alternative to burgers and fries.

Walmart and other retail giants pushing their Chinese suppliers to eat up to 66% of US tariffs
Global brands including several US retail giants are now pushing suppliers in both China and parts of Southeast Asia to absorb a large chunk of the cost of the levies, according to sources from suppliers serving companies including Walmart, Target, Nike, Puma and Adidas.
Most of our customers, the garment vendors exporting to major retailers and brands, are being asked to cover 50 to 66 per cent of the current tariffs,” said an executive at a fashion supplier, which produces and sources from China and Southeast Asia and then sells across the United States and Europe.
both sides (Retailers and suppliers) remain in constant contact as they try to navigate a “tough time” for the industry.
Now, me being a MAGA law-and-order guy think somebody ought to report Walmart and their Chinese suppliers to the Chinese government. Gov't told them not to negotiate on prices.

According to the source, the Zhejiang manufacturer is capable of footing about 30 per cent of the additional costs from the tariffs, but there is “no room” to go up to 50 per cent or higher. The company has yet to reach an agreement with Walmart.

“We agree to get prepared for the worst situation, while hoping for the best,”

They entertaining the idea of eating approx 30% of the tariffs. loll
