In this agree. To be honest the E. U, South America, and other Asian countries and even a African countries might have a choice to oppose the US and even cut some ties. However Canada and Mexico as well can't afford to do so they are too closed to the USA Since they share a long border and their economy and defense rely on the US. Its like Mongolia trying to divorce from China. Its almost impossible and will only hurt them far more than China. They know that. So they have to play jice with the US Whether they like it or not. Its no wonder Canadas Carney despite being elected on standing up to USA BULLYING went to the white house to negotiate and kinda plead with Trump, and now he is the first to want to join the US golden dome system before any other US ally. They are basically peladingnto join Inde the US umbrella even though trump is still castigating them to pay up and join the US as the 51st state. Lol.
In short there's nothing much Canada can do but to tone down their rhetoric. People seem to forget how influential the US is and how much depth they have with their allies. China has to learn from the USA in this regard. I can't think of any country China has some real depth and influence over. This might also play in the country's disfavour if there's a conflict in future between the US AND CHINA. No country can develop as an island by itself. So you need real allies not just partners .

Rich and upper middle class will make lots of money. Middle class will be fine too. Smart people will use the next 4 years under trump as an opportunity to do well.

Here's a true story. Chinese peasants wanted to overthrow the landlords, cause they felt exploited, system treated them unfairly.

After the cultural revolution, the rich landlords went back to his village, and the poor peasants were still poor. The smart ones got out, got an education, moved up. The ones that were complaining, killed all the landlords, they still poor, still complaining.

I like your optimism, tho I prefer looking at the reality of the situation. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

However, if things continue as is, there probably won’t be much of a middle class left. As for opportunities, I am sure there will be some but how much will ‘trickle down’, I wouldn’t be put money on it if I were you.

Yes Trump's angry that China hasn't unleashed rare earths for the US. The US has to lie about rare earths to the American people. Yeah the American elites are getting rich by getting money to produce rare earths in the US that will never be cheaper than they can get from China. So they're just pocketing that money under the guise of production in the US. The US military is not suppose to source anything from China yet all their military tech is dependent on rare earths from China. See... lie. Paranoid Republicans think China is spying on American babies through baby milk formula. If China is much more high tech than the US to do that, why not with rare earths. That's more important than knowing what American babies are up to. Just like John McCain crying bloody murder because one chip on the F-35 was found to be a China equivalent because some patriotic American contractor was thinking about profit over America so he bought Chinese chips for the F-35. McCain even demanded a tour of the Chinese factory where those chips came from. What was that going to do? It's all a show for the American people that US politicians are doing something for them when they're not. It's a whole lot more than one chip. And then they're going blame China for somehow covertly inserting themselves into the F-35 supply chain when it's as simple as Americans are greedy valuing their own personal wealth over the US.
