I think the US is one of the biggest agriculture producer but they produce for what they are optimize to grow ... like grain, corn, and soy. US placing tarriffs could help more diversity in crops being grown at large scale in the US but will increase prices and put higher risk on farmers to take the hit for weather/infestation in those specific crops.
The largest food import is probably coffee which can't be cultivated on American soil.

So you are saying Elon Musk can have one-on-one dinners every night with Trump for one lifetime (80 years) and still have majority of his wealth leftover (enough remaining for 2.5 lifetimes or 200 years worth of dinners).... That's insane how dirt cheap the US presidency can be bought by billionaires.

suggests that Trumpenomics have some serious strategic underpinning, basically acknowledging that the existing model was leading to eventual collapse so the USD has to be devalued, and that there’s a possibility of doing so while preventing hegemonic collapse via forcing creditors to hold us debt even as the dollar value crashes.
