DILI, Timor Leste (June 8, 2016) An MH-60S helicopter assigned to the Blackjacks of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 lifts supplies off the flight deck of hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19). Deployed in support of Pacific Partnership 2016, Mercy is on its first stop of the 2016 mission. Pacific Partnership has a longstanding history with Timor Leste, having first visited in 2006, and four subsequent times since. US, India and Japan kick off Malabar 2016

Naval ships, aircraft and personnel from India, Japan and the United States started the annual exercise Malabar 2016, June 9 in Sasebo, Japan.

The harbour phase will be taking place in Sasebo until June 13 and the sea phase will have participants conducting drills in the Philippine Sea from June 14 to 17.

Participants from the U.S. Navy include Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis with embarked Carrier Air Wing 9, guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay and guided-missile destroyers USS Stockdale, USS William P. Lawrence and USS Chung-Hoon; a P-8A Poseidon aircraft; and a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine.

Indian Navy ships taking part in the drill are the indigenously built guided missile frigates INS Sahyadri and INS Satpura, INS Shakti, a modern fleet tanker and support ship and INS Kirch, a guided missile corvette.

The JMSDF will be represented by JS Hyuga, a helicopter carrier with SH 60 K integral helicopters and Long Range Maritime Patrol aircraft, and other warships deployed for specific parts of the exercise.

The exercise will feature both ashore and at-sea training. While ashore in Sasebo, training will include subject matter expert and professional exchanges on carrier strike group operations, maritime patrol and reconnaissance operations, surface and anti-submarine warfare, medical operations, damage control, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), helicopter operations, and visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) operations.

The at-sea portions of the exercise will be conducted in the Philippine Sea and include submarine familiarization, high-value unit defense, air defense exercises, medical evacuation drills, surface warfare exercises, communications exercises, search and rescue exercises, helicopter cross-deck evolutions, underway replenishments, gunnery exercises, VBSS exercises, and anti-submarine warfare.

40th P-8A delivered ( Boeing Tweet ) a new VP-26 equiped, now all active Front Line VP ( 6 ) to Jacksonville have P-8 replace P-3C remains one Reserve VP equiped later and for end of year P-8 begin to equiped VP in Western Coast/Hawai, Pacific area, VP-4 in first.

And VAQ have do transition from EA-6B to EA-18G, 14 Front Line ! whose 1 Reserve but deployed also, last VAQ-134 have finished transition , remains 2 new VAQ-143 and 144 for 2017 and 2019 about. More EW aircrafts in VAQ before 4 EA-6B now 5 EA-18G planned soon 6 possible after 7/8 ! coz much ordered 168 !

Also the 2 last VFA equiped with legacy Hornets to Lemoore have finish transition on Super Hornets
- VFA-94 now on F/A-18F
- VFA-113 now on F/A-18E
On this base 5 on F, 10 on E and a OCU with E/F.

Remains only 5 VFA with legacy Hornet to Oceana.

Very possible this last 2 VFA are the last to be equiped with Super Hornet and the 5 fighters right now up to about 35 ordered for attrition etc...

All CAW have now 3 on 4 VFA on Super Hornet minimum and 2 on 9 Reagan, Stennis are fully equiped with Super Hornets.

With 1 USN Reserve VFA, 4 USMC VMFA and 35 active VFA : 40 Flotillas available so possible if necessary provide to severals CVN, 5 VFA.
