We have spoken here on SD about commercial ships that carry naval vessels to other parts of the world, either because they are damaged, or because it makes good economical sense.

The semi-submersible vessels allow the vessels to be floated aboard. Other large carriers (like the one below) load them aboard in port.

Here we see two French Navy, 600 ton Mine Counter Measure (MCM) ships being loaded aboard the MV Jumbo Jubilee for transportation from Brest, France to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Pacific Sentinel said:
TIMOR SEA (NNS) -- Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, embarked aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), conducted high-intensity land strike training with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as part of exercise Talisman Sabre 2015 (TS15), July 16.

The land strike training was one of 10 large-force strikes against simulated land adversaries throughout TS15.

"The ultimate goal of conducting these exercises is to achieve and maintain interoperability between the U.S. and Royal Australian Air Force, as well as our other maritime components," said Lt. David Robinson, CVW 5's strike operations officer.

Participants included F/A-18F Super Hornets from the "Diamondbacks" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 102 and RAAF's E-7A Wedgetail and KC-30A. During the strike exercise, the U.S. Navy's Super Hornet also completed an airborne refueling from the RAAF's KC-30A.
"The advanced level of training received through these exercises is the most rewarding part about conducting them," said Robinson. "This training would not be able to be simulated in any other area of responsibility."

The exercise gave both nations an opportunity to showcase their capabilities while improving their ability to work bilaterally in providing security in the region and around the world.
TS15 is a biennial land, sea and air military training exercise between U.S. and Australian forces that features more than 33,000 personnel, 21 ships, 200 aircraft and three submarines, which increases U.S.-Australian interoperability to respond to a wide variety of contingencies and maintain security, peace, and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Naval Today said:
Combined Task Force (CTF) 152, which operates in the Persian Gulf, successfully completes another Exercise Falcon Warrior.

Naval and Coast Guard vessels from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States along with operational centres from the Gulf Cooperation Council worked together for the second time this year in this major exercise.

The major focus of this exercise was to work together in the demanding Gulf environment, sharing knowledge and skills, then to put them into practice by running a series of Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) exercises.

Expertise was on hand from the United States Coast Guard Advanced Interdiction Team and the Royal Marines currently embarked on HMS Duncan. Each exercise in the series focuses on a specific maritime capability like search and rescue or VBSS.

Participation in Falcon Warrior was higher than previous exercises and included a variety of national assets including, Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) HMS Khalid which is a Royal Saudi Coast Guard vessel, UAE Navy ship Banyas and Tarif, the guided missile destroyer US Ship McFaul, United Kingdom guided missile destroyer HMS Duncan with embarked helicopter, US Navy patrol craft, USS Monsoon and US Coast Guard Cutter Wrangell.

This is several weeks old, but is an excellent video of the USS Ft. Worth, LCS-3, in the South China Sea. Some GREAT shots of the LCS...but also clearly shows the PLAN Type 054A Frigate shadowing her. Which also punctuates the need for the LCS to have stronger ASuW weaponry...which they will be getting in the form of SSMs.

The next time the LCS traversed those waters...just recently, she had a US Navy AEGIS destroyer in company with her.
