In the conflict, Russian tanks are unstoppable by Chinese anti-tank weapons. But then China built lots of traps, the tanks fall under the ice and the crew came out with their hands up. Thats when China studied Russian tanks.

Actually USSR was victorious in this conflict, and it lost only one T-62, which led to WZ-122 program, and FCS upgrades on type59 tanks. It is necessary to add that the conflict was started by chinese side.

ja you see, that's the problem. US claimed they won in korea, and we claimed we did.....
if you put it this way. that piece of land was ours for the last....a long time, russian only got that far at the beginning of the last century, which was, invasion. and lenin claimed that the soviet government will give it back, which stalin never did.... and what happend there is the island is on the middl of the border, both sides had the rights and when you hate each other very much, you just need to find some excuse to fight, right? no one knew who started the first shot, but, because soviet union was more powerful, we, the chinese was blamed for it. it was a good cost, even thought we don't know how many soldiers were killed, but we got T-62, and we taught the russian (no offence) a lesson. I saw some pictures of the conflict from the russian side, it's not pretty, i can't tell ya.....i am sure we suffered heavy damage as well. There is something you may not know, the russian also had another border conflict on the northwest border, which they killed all of our guys. We were trying to defend the land from the invasion of russians, why would we start the war?.......

Well, but Soviet side was victorious, island remained under soviet control untill 90s.

According to russian version this was not an accident. Whoever invaded soviet border was prepared to it.
we taught the russian (no offence) a lesson
No offence as well, but what kind of lesson was it? Probably "Use more multiple rocket launchers, they're damn effective"

Truly, i don't know anything about it. Did it really happend? And what is more importaint, did it really happend like this?

sometimes victorious isn't about gaining control of a piece of land.
invaded? by whom? fisherman? it was just a mistake at the bgeinning anyway. an island that was supposed to be on my side grown bigger and into the soviet border. it could be solved by diplomates but didn't at this special time.
the lesson is we are not as weak as they thought we are.
and ja, it did happen, there are lots of border conflicts they never talk about, especially things like this, all of our men got slaughtered......

This does not make a sense, nobody would attack any country just to kill some people.

Too much to be a coincidence. Conflict began exactly at the moment, when USSR could not start an all out war, due to negotiations with USA, and chinese soldiers had those "down with soviet revisionists" headers, and many nationalism-related books with them.
the lesson is we are not as weak as they thought we are.
I do not want to argue on this point, but according to history books chinese troops have lost 10 (if not more) times more personnel, then soviets.

oh.....see, this is culture different. you wouldn't understand this due to the cultrue you have been in :D, this is not an insult. just you weren't taught to think like we do.
the first point is no point to argue because you won't understand it.
and second point, well, it's very hard to explain as well. as i said, the both sides were angry at each, so they need an excuse to let the anger out. this little border conflict could easily be solved by the officals in the embassies but they decided not to. there were both anti soviet in china and anti chinese in soviet union, you can't deny this, can you? and as i said, no one know who started the first fire, it could be a back fire of the rifle or even A CAR! who knows. at first, the conflict only involves beating on the ice, since russians are bigger than us, we got people who are better in kongfu and one time by one time......and about the book, come on, you people used to be in communist era, you know things like that, it seems pretty dumb now.....i did see chinese soldiers showing the soviet soldier what chairman mao said....what's the use...russians don't listen to chairman mao...
thirt point.
well, i won't deny that we lost more man, but we also made russian pay for that. it's like in viet nam, american thought they could take viet namese easily, but they lost a lot men, even though viet nam lost much more. but that's not about who lost more men in the battle, it's about how much damage you had caused to yourself. the conflict made the glorious soviet army lost its face. a lt colenel was KIA, the most advanced tank was captured.....that's no good......so, even we lost more men, it's worth of it. this also taught us something about the russians. "you can't reason with them with what chairman mao said." :D
border conflict never helps anyone.
oh, and, in china we say "history is written by the victors", so, do question your book, the number of enemy lost is always greater than the actual lost, which i won't deny we lost more men. after all, as in the soviet posters, "mothers are wiping", not the leaders.

victors write the history books, and because both sides claim they won....well, you get my drift. But to say that the Russians won is typical Russian....thinking.
