yeah, survivability is an issue for that. networked J-35s providing data to AWACS is probably good enough.

I think even if we don't think highly of Indian air defense, the potential for improvement over next 10 years is still quite high, just because the increased computation power, sensors and AI that is becoming available.

The good news is that the Indian long range SAMs aren't likely to improve over that time period, so any J-35s delivered to Pakistan is likely to have quite a bit of success against what is obviously going to be a legacy system by then.
I wonder if you could fit a parachute that make the expensive parts recoverable after shootdown.

More excotic solution could be multiple blimps of small radars like T/R modules. Or having the expensive electronics on the ground and send a signal up so it works like a PESA with antenna in blimp and transmitter in a bunker.

I wonder if the blimp AWAC is a low cost solution for persistent surveillance of enemy air space.
Although blimps would be very terrible idea flying into enemy airspace, I do think that China do actually have a pretty good use for them. Covering up the entire SCS with high altitude AEW airships that could stay on station up to a year before needing to refill the helium and also for maintenace. Since the entire SCS could basically to be in reach of Chinese air defenses wouldn't be too bad of an idea in peace time as an advanced early warning system, could also work well against stealth targets since they would be floating over basically any aircraft that isn't a SR-71 or something.
