Gents, allow me in few words to introduce myself, new to the forum.
Actually I am an high-power amateur rocket builder, born in France and based in Munich / Germany (or better said Bavaria *lol*).

I built several large projects (all flying) and the largest one from last year was a

so far with L and M impulse ( I would call that large for amateur rocketry). A few weeks ago I decided to get it finally painted.

Obviously the rocketry community in general is very aware of the German and US painting schemes, less the Russians versions of it. by googling this particular painting topic, I found by chance the pictures of the DF-1

Of course I know that there is a great portion of ignorance in my painting scheme as it was definitely never flying like this..but sometimes as amateur rocketeer you need to follow the voice of the remaining small boy in you :D

Now after this pretty long introduction here my questions to the honorable members of this forum:

- do you have any pictures of the DF-1 in operations? / can you point me to such pictures in operations?

- I understand the Russians have delivered 2 units of the R-1 rocket (russian name of the DF-1), which was a real A4/V2, eventually built from German spare parts captured by the soviets in Nordhausen V2 factory (Harz) in late 1945. Is this confirmed somwhere?

- I also understand that further 2 units of the R-2 where delivered, copied and produced in China (and called also DF-1). This is the long version of the V-2 that was planned by the Germans under von Braun before war end but never realized under the nazis ..but in Russia and in the US...Do we know if the unit displayed at the army museum in Beijing is one of the 2 originals or of the small local production?

- do we know anything about German engineers working (forced) with the SOviets where helping delivering the units sold to China?

- finally it has been confirmed that

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for , but here the link to Chinese Military Aviation web site, with pictures of some missiles and air crafts.

Personally I think it is great to have a rocket engineer join this professional Sino-Defense Forum. As for German involvement, I wouldn't be surprise if some hi-tech company in Germany directly or indirectly helped/advised China develop its missile systems. For some time now, we know that the Chinese respected and always welcome German's high technology in the industrial sectors. The Chinese also love BMW for its superb automotive technological innovation.

That could be just a model rocket kit painted with Chinese characters and red star for all we know.

. In my post I explained that I was interested to understand the historical cross connection between the chinese and former nazi-germans in post-war time. The model is just the origin of my interest, whilst researching for the painting scheme...

Qian, Von Braun, Korolev, Goddad, Tsiolkovsky and Von Karmen were very interesting monumental figures of the time for rocketry. The bigger twist was that Qian interviewed Von Braun as a colonel of the US Army, and Korolev was freed from the gulags so that he can study captured V2 for the Soviet Union. - and that Korolev probably talked to Qian after the war; and each became the father of the space and missile program of the USSR, USA and China.

Qian or Tsien depending on the romanization, recently had a biography published in Chinese. It might have some more info on the meetings.
