Who says the only reason India got aircraft carriers was because of Pakistan? There are other reasons, such as being able to secure sea-based trade and energy supplies.

chinas not so secret aircraft carrier is far from being ready.

You said "buy", not "operate". So, according to your logic, the fact China is building/will shortly start building its own (in addition to the work on Varyag) would make it a "non-peaceful" nation.

Tajikistan is a member of the SCO and the SCO is having its conference in Bishkek starting next week or so, so I suspect that all the announcements relating to Ayni Air Base are carefully timed.

Russia is keen to cement its hold over Central Asia and is strangely enough, keen to re-establish a firm presence in Afghanistan. China is worried that the deteriorating situation there could spill over the border into Xinjiang.

There is a Battle of Wills developing in the region; much of it Energy security related, and so to dismiss any moves as unrelated, especially when they fall so neatly along partisan lines is frankly, disingenuous

why is it surprising that tajikstan denies any air base to India??? India has no right to establish any military base on foreign territories. also, if india established a air field, it would be a threat to China and neighboring countires so tajisktan made a logical move.
