taiwan soldiers ,that ,we are chinese. though i don't like this word.

Sorry for the one liner, but I just had to ask... can you clarify this sentence?

I'll take a shot at this though I really can't read simplified Chinese fluently...

But from what I can tell basically it describes a rare Taiwanese training exercise involving a simulated Chinese invasion... the situation is described below...

Time : 2006

Location : Taiwan Strait

Event : China uses its "right" to attack Taiwan because of the (relatively) new anti-secession law, and war is pretty much imminent.

The Chinese government decides to use force to unify Taiwan and begins to build up a large army on their southeast coast, 1500 combat aircraft are deployed to airports within 1000 miles of Taiwan.

The East and South China Sea fleet add approximately 50 deestroyers and cruisers to the invasion force, 13 conventional submarines are deployed; basically a whole bunch of different military branches prepare for war, i.e. entering a firing position.

Taiwan's satellite reconnaissance reveals the motion of the People's Liberation Army, and the three branches are readying up for combat, in addition a emergency combat movement is passed and the reserves (any man under 45 years of age, I recall) mobilize, ordered to report within 3 days, adding about 400,000 people to the reserves.

After eight days of war Taiwan loses air supremacy, China basically launches a shitload of missiles towards Taiwan, paralyzing Taiwan's war strength.

The majority of the missiles attack Taipei, and also Ching Chuang Kang Airfield (Shit man, my home is less than 30 miles away from there!) Chiayi, Tainan (Basically most of Taiwan's air force bases) as well as some of the outlying islands, radar stations, refineries, power plants...

Basically Chinese missiles hit everything they can. (No probable civilian casualties are mentioned in this scenario)

On Day 9 the PLA heads off to Taiwan to begin grouund warfare. Although the mainland suffers heavy losses to the air force, 3 strong landing fleets are still intact, shielded by Navy and Air force military strength, the main attack force will attack the North, and other two will be deceptive attack diversions...

I couldn't figure out the details about this part of the invasion...

The Taiwanese army attacks and sinks nearly 3/10ths of the ships, airborne anti-submarine units attack and sink 2/10ths, Fang Qianjian (Dunno what that is) also annihilates 3/10ths of the mianland amphibious fleet, but that wasn't enough to stop the landing.

After getting ashore, it takes 10 days of fierce combat to seize all of Taiwan.

Basically that's what the article says. I find some parts a little plausible, but anyway I tried to translate it, if someone can correct me on any errors you find please do so by all means!

Personally I find taking all of Taiwan in 10 days a little unrealistic.

*Edited because I actually tried to translate it instead of giving up*

BTW, is Babelfish the only translator available? Grammar gets really weird (depending on what language you're translating, languages with latin roots tend to fare better) and some things are just plain weird. For instance, "anti-secession" was called "anti-fission" because the Chinese word for secession 分裂 is the same as fission...

For those unfamiliar with Alta Vista Babel Fish translator, it can translate both traditional and simplified Chinese. Go to this URL:

In the "Translate a Web Page" section, insert following URL:

Then use the pull down menu under it and select "Chinese-simp to English", and click on "Translate".

Note that there are 2 such pull-down menus on the page, you want to use the one on the bottom.

Generally speaking, anything with *.cn is simplified Chinese, and .tw is traditional Chinese.

If Alta Vista's page isn't working, you can use Systran's:
