Lieutenant General
Correct. Which is probably why they were intended more for urban and fast raids

Ugh...that explains why those "Rebel scum" can never be annihilated if they keep on hiding in thick jungle bases.:p;)

The way the movie has been describe is Saving Private Ryan in space. Supposedly a lot of soldier battles. It's the galaxy in chaos after the Jedi are destroyed. So the only one with any force capabilities is Darth Vader.

When I used to read the Star Wars EU books I mostly read the non-jedi stuff like X-Wing Rogue Squadron. In the late 90s and early 2000s I dreamed of Star Wars battles portrayed in the realistic cruelty and violence that war is.

They're trying too hard to make Phasma the next Bubba Fett bounty hunter/ have high powered female officer/ sell toys. I honestly hate the idea of the chrome/ black commander storm trooper. How impractical. That is like saying "here look at me I am a general/ someone in command" target me in the battle field. In the words of
Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump "Oh, get your hands down. Do not salute me. There are damn snipers all around this area who'd love to grease an officer. "

I wish they would keep the special colored troopers to the imperial guardsman that protect the emperor those were my favorite (the red ones)

Though her uniform is impractical there is some meaning according to this video. Her armor is supposed to be made from Emperor Palpatine's yacht.

ahhh... I would have thought that Personal Armor would have been made from a more specialized materials then stuff they found laying around. I mean Chromium is real but using it as armor is a bit... Old School.

The Naboo space ships in the prequels had that highly polished mirror look but to get that with real materials means a Nickle plated base and it's almost always descriptive I doubt it could take repeated atmospheric entry. Some radiation protection Okay but not much more than any other metal.

I think TR-8R sold me on their intended mission. Riot control. First we never actually saw penetration of the armor, that said like all full body armor suits the joints are the weak spots. I mean you have to move well wearing it so you are going to have those gaps. We know that the armor offers little in peripheral thanks to the trooper who banged his head on the door, we also know that the helmet filters smoke but not toxic gases or likely offers any protection against the vacuum of space. We know that they have access to blunt weapons and short range weapons with a wide range stun. All of this I think indicates a primary mission set aim of Urban riot control. I am guessing the filters would work on a mild smoke Irritant agent like Tear gas. The stun setting would enable disarming a number of offenders in a single shot. the armor would likely deflect simple blunt force attacks. the Grapple hook feature would allow for flanking of a rioting force and engagement from the high ground of buildings. the AT AT and chicken walkers would be a serious intimidation factor and movable over watch tower as well as fire support.

You may be on to something for me though I figured the Imperial ground forces and portions of their fleet are serving as gendarme forces since local law enforcement seem very limited.

The white armor to make sense it would have to be all about high visibility so that they can be seen like most beat cop uniforms. If everyone in the Empire thinks of the stormtroopers as shock troops that show no mercy on the battlefield the public would easily fear and be intimidated by the sheer sight of the stormtroopers distinctive armor.

Another thing to consider beyond an urban combat setting is the stormtroopers are the Imperial fleet forces' primary marine boarding party. Most ships are well lit with white interiors so a white uniform helps out and at such close quarters unless you have a stealth suit of some sort no camo is going to obscure the human figure. Now during the fire fight on Princess Leia's ship in SW4 there is a lot of white smoke in those corridors that white armor is kind of paying off.
