It's ironic that there's this stereotype that athletes of African descent in track and field are likely to dope up when they dominate the sport. Yet in swimming when someone not belonging to the dominating circle wins, there's a suspicion of cheating. The last Olympics there was an accusation that Jamaican athletes must be cheating because so many winners are produced there. They have a logic for everything even when it contradicts what they said before. Serena Williams gets a lot accusations hurled her way many pointing to her physique being "unnatural' for women's tennis yet the US women's gymnastics team stands out unlike every other team looking like a bunch of little girls hopped up on steroids and yet no such accusations. Of course there's prejudice against Asian athletes because the stereotype is they're non-athletic and is unnatural to them. I remember listening to a radio show after the Chinese men's gymnastics team won gold in one Olympics and the one of the radio personalities accused them of cheating because she believed Chinese men having muscles is not natural. I remember when I was a kid in school and a student I didn't know walked up to me in the school yard and proceeded to tell me I belonged an inferior race because Asians didn't have professional athletes or popular musicians. See.. they teach them young.

The strategy nowadays is to smear first and debunk later, but most of the time the damage is irreparable.

Ladies figure skating use to be the biggest spectator sport on TV. Now it's relegated to minor sports cable channels. What happened? Was it because Japanese and Korean skaters have been dominating for the past couple decades? What about women's golf? A lot of complaints from the establishment how Asian women golfers aren't social. What does that have to do with golf? There's a whole culture in sports or cliques behind and beyond just playing the sport that they don't talk about it publicly and its extremely exclusive and they use golf or whatever sport as a front for it. Performance enhancing drugs is only one excuse they use where they get angry. Look at diving. The Chinese dominate there and even though it's a sport less exposed to performance enhancing drugs cheats, the usual suspects still hate the Chinese dominating. Tom Daley from Great Britain is vocal about his hatred of Chinese winning and the same hens gossip and ridicule behind the scenes.

Just imagine the parties that take place within these elitist circles where they celebrate their best. It would be strange to celebrate one of their own when all they got was second or third place.

If american athletes dope it's all about medical treatments and it is LEGAL.

If Sun Yang takes a medicine against his heart problem which includes Trimetazidine, which was on and off on WADAs dopinglist ( that means: sometime it was legal to use it sometimes not), than he is cheater, he is a fraud and it is absolut ILLEGAL.

That is pure hypocrisy.

I don't there was any double standards.
The Williams sisters and Biles had applied to Wada for permission to use the related medication for their condition. It looks like Sun Yang just decided to chance it. Had he taken the trouble to get permision to use Trimetazidine, he would have avoided being labeled a drug cheat.
Anyway I assume that Sun had quality people around who could give him the best advice when it came to problematic medicines and not to be aware of the current status of Trimetazidine and its continued use by sports people.

It ssems hard to believe that top sports doctors in Sun's side were not aware on what the current status of Trimetazidine was.

Is Daly a hater of Chinese hater or just frustrated that The chinese keep on winning.
Have you noticed that in Olympic sports in which China dominates in such as diving, table tennis, and weight lifting, there is only two compeititors per event. Look how many bronze medals they miss out on.They even changed the way table tennis is scored to level the play field.Meanwhile sports like athletics have three entrants per event. Not sure about swimming.

IMO, the biggest con was the women's 100m sprint in athletics. Flo-Jo got away big time. But the record is beyond reproach now, thanks to the American athletics association.

About Sun's 2014 suspension, from Wiki

2014 ban[

In May 2014, Sun was banned for three months by the

The substance is prohibited in-competition only; the ingestion of trimetazidine by an athlete out-of-competition "is inconsequential", and constitutes illicit behavior only if the same athlete later participates in competition before the substance clears their system.

Although Sun was eligible to file the drug for a medical exception due to his heart condition, he did not do so.

In January 2015, the World Anti-Doping Agency reclassified and downgraded trimetazidine from "stimulant" to "modulator of cardiac metabolism".

The drug, however, remains a banned substance as of 2019.

The

"Sun proved with sufficient evidence that he did not intend to cheat, which helped reduce his ban to three months," CHINADA (China Anti-Doping Agency) deputy director Zhao Jia said; however, Sun was stripped of his win in the 1500 metre freestyle at the 2014 Chinese nationals.

One Australian writer opined that the punishment was lenient, but also admitted that "Yang was not found to have doped intentionally".

In light of the ban, Swimming Australia ordered coach Denis Cotterell to stop working with Sun; Cotterell however chose to continue his role as Sun Yang's coach.

The question to ask is was Mack's reaction over-dramatic and objectionable? Has there ever been similar reaction from other sportsmen to others who took tainted medication as opposed to straight dope by people like Lance Armstrong and Ben Johnson?

Maybe he should train more to beat the Chinese if hates to see them win. It says something that he rather complain publicly and not just get better at diving. I believe he first caught my attention was when he made a comment that he wanted anyone but the Chinese to win. The thing is in the US, the network showing the Olympics doesn't show medal ceremonies if the US didn't medal and most of the time only if they won gold. So I don't get to see Daly's reaction on the medal stand. But all indications are he has something against the Chinese. I only see him place third most of the time meaning some other country beats him regularly and he doesn't complain about them.

Perfecting the dives is all about drilling. If he got it right, he won't feel so butthurt.:)
