The Poles claimed the K9's artillery piece was not good enough for their needs and that is why they made that abortion the Krab with a UK turret with Korean chassis. But now they seem to be ok getting the plain K9.
The K2 is a great tank but it is poorly suited for a country like Poland. It was designed for mountain warfare against North Korean tanks. Poland is flat like a pool table.
The K2 would likely be facing the T-90M not some North Korean T-62 derivative. And that is assuming the T-14 won't be available before the K2 enters service in Poland in any decent numbers.K2 is more than enough against T-72 and T-62 tanks what are it's most likely opponents if there is a conflict with Russia. Polish K2 isn't going against Abrams or Leopard 2.
K2 would be facing no such thing as the Russian army is still bogged down in Ukraine. The K2 would likely be facing the T-90M not some North Korean T-62 derivative. And that is assuming the T-14 won't be available before the K2 enters service in Poland in any decent numbers.
Uh right. So you think the Polish weapons industry will produce significant numbers of K2PL tanks over the next years. So, pray tell me, how many Turkish Altay tanks have been built thus far? A similar tank program which is based on a K2 tank derivative. Which started like a decade ago. And you also clearly have not read much about the issues South Korea has been having producing the base K2 itself. Namely replacing the German engine and transmission with their own. Only a couple years back did they manage to replace the engine, and they claim to have replaced the transmission, but none of the 100% South Korean powerpack tanks have entered service yet. South Korea introduced the tank in 2008, and they have produced 260 tanks total, yet you seem to think they can outproduce Russia. Which exported 572 T-90SA tanks to Algeria alone... As for the Leopard 2PL it has been even more of a shit show with Germany consistently failing to deliver the upgrade packages to Poland in time.24 K2 have arrived in Poland with 150 plus on the way based on last know numbers that’s more than the 20 of T14 in Russian inventory. By the Time T14 is available to equip a single regiment of the Red army at this rate the Poles will be deep into building K2PLs with about 700 M1A2 sep3, Leopard 2PL and K2.
Yeah, no. Doing so is simply asking for trouble from China. Actually, forget China, the rest of Asia, and the US itself won't allow this to ever happen. SK living in a fantasy land like always. As for Japan, doing so would warrant China initiating war against them.Interesting development. If this happens, Japan will likely be next.
