Good to have SDF back online! :)

I was in the middle of a post when it went down on Friday (Tasmanian time). I noticed that DT was also down. You don't realise how much you miss something until it is gone!

Don't know what hit us about an hour ago, but SDF was knocked offline and couldn't be accessed for quite a while. My screen just went white. What happened?:confused:

Heh, just noticed this newer thread about SDF going offline:eek:...well, here's my reply on the older thread (gotta get them merged or something).;)

For a couple of days I coudn`t acces SDF. I think tha old problem with the server has reappeared.

I too tried all day. I could access the website but not the discussion forum. I actually found that a bit odd. However, I am glad things are back to normal.

Apologies about the downtime... we had some software issues.

SinoDefence Forum (along with defencetalk.com) is hosted on a different dedicated server than the website (sinodefence.com). That is why you could access the website but not the discussion forums. :)

We experienced this quite a few times in the past. I'd suggest that you have an announcement area on the main site, whenever the forum is down or has some problems, you can announce that on the main site, so that all members know what is going on.

We are already working on such solution where members are kept updated about the downtime.

We've moved the forum to a new more powerful server.
